The 2000 year old Mainz has a lot to offer its visitors: Roman temples, aristocratic palaces, the 1000 year old cathedral, Marc Chagall's blue windows in St. Stephen's Cathedral and and and ............ There is a nice market around the cathedral on Fridays and Saturdays. You shouldn't miss the market breakfast with "pork cheeks" and "meat sausage". The city park and rose garden with a view of the Rhine also invite you to take a walk. On the Rhine promenade are the boat docks of the Cologne-Düsseldorf fleet, which offers various trips down the Rhine to the beautiful wine villages in the Rheingau, the romantic castles and palaces in the summer months. A few minutes by car from Mainz you can explore the beautiful Rheinhessen with its almost infinite vineyards and hearty ostrich shops. In the evening, the old town of Mainz around the cathedral invites you to its rustic wine bars to spoil your visitors with Mainz specialties. To name just a few examples: "Määnzer Fleischworscht", "Handkäs mit Musik", "Spundekäs", "Hausmacher Worscht" etc. If you are looking for a good restaurant near the apartment, no problem, there is something for everyone.
