About this cottage rental

Welcome to "Newfie Seaside Retreat", our ocean view cottage. Built in the summer of 2018, it features all the modern comforts of home and sleeps 8 comfortably in 4 separate bedrooms. This spacious 1,400 square foot cottage, complete with pine feature walls and live edge wood accents, offers you a rustic feel while providing you with all the modern luxuries. Upstairs, you will find a fully equipped kitchen, complete with a full size fridge/freezer, gas stove and dishwasher. The dining area can comfortably seat 8 or more. Sit by the cozy gas fire place on those rainy days. The large sliding doors lead out to the spacious covered patio which features a sitting area to take in the ocean, mountain and beach views. There is also a large BBQ. Binoculars are provided to view the many eagles nesting in the adjacent trees. This level has a full bathroom and two bedrooms which have brand new queen and double beds, comfortably sleeping 4 adults.

The lower level has a second bathroom, a third and forth bedroom and full laundry facilities. This is a true 4 bedroom cottage with no pull-out beds in sight! There is a second patio on this level with grassy area for lawn games and a fire pit.

All towels, bedding, linen, soap and shampoo are provided complimentary. Free Wi-Fi is included. Port Renfrew is a world class fishing resort with regular charters leaving from the Pacific Gateway Marina which is located just steps away from the cottage. Restaurants, pubs and gift shops are all within walking distance.

We had a wonderful time in Port Renfrew and loved the cozy cottage. It was perfect for our family of 6 with plenty of space in the living areas and bedrooms. It had everything we needed, so it’s no problem to just show up with your clothing and groceries. They even had some spices and olive oil which was helpful because we forgot our olive oil. It’s close to a number of beaches and hiking trails, so we were never without something to do. We messaged Martyn when we noticed that the garbage depot down the road was closed on the day of our departure (it’s closed Wednesdays and Thursdays) and it responded very quickly to help us problem solve before checking out. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others interested in exploring the area.

All good except no TV worked, there is good microwave but no microwave dishes, no storage bowls, knives are very dull. Needs a small chest freezer definitely not enough space for freezing fish. This unit is very comfortable great patio decks and you cant beat location. Overall good unit.

Had a great time in Port Renfrew. Botanical Beach was epic. Saw a humpback whale! The cottage had everything we needed, space for the three of us to do yoga, well equipped kitchen, great view, and a short walk to the beach. Ice cream shop was also a 2 minute walk away!

We had a lovely 3 night stay in late August. Lovely property with a fantastic views. We were 2 families and the place comfortably slept all of us. We cooked at “home” the entire time and the kitchen was well equipped to do so. We bbq-ed every night and enjoyed the views while we did so. It was a good jumping off point for visiting the many beaches in the area and we saw so much wildlife!

I wouldn’t suggest coming in at night via lake cowichan. The road is terribly twisty and fog made it hard to see. Other than that it was an incredible stay. Would have been nice if there was a gift shop and maybe a hot tub. Loved watching the eagles on the trees outside the cabin and got to see a whale at botanical beach! Wear good hiking shoes for botanical beach though.only sharp rocks. Botany Bay is safer for younger kids but botanical beach had more to see in tide pools. Access to ocean is only at marina entrance short walk from cabin. You can also walk to the beach from there. Lots of driftwood for pictures

The Newfie Retreat was the perfect getaway for our first ever family girls weekend trip. The place is very well stocked and clean. Beds were super comfy. Instructions to get to the cottage and enter was super easy. Martyn was super quick on responding to any questions leading up to and during our stay. Thank you for opening this little piece of paradise up for people to stay at.

This cottage was beautiful, nestled between other private cottages and yet so quiet and peaceful. Bravo to the owners as they fully equipped the kitchen for all that love to cook, utensils and spices and all. The only draw back is with small kids that want to go the beach everyday but not within walking distance though a quick drive was well enough. This cottage is highly recommended for those needing a quick R&R or for people looking to explore nature as there are numerous walking trails, plus activities on the water like fishing or boating all within minutes drive from this seaside cottage. Looking forward to coming back soon!
