About this apartment rental

Beautiful 3 bedroom, family friendly apartment in the heart of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. A 10 minute walk from the village centre, Chalet Black comfortably sleeps 7 adults and provides the perfect base for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. The apartment is in the last chalet of the village so has uninterrupted views down the valley from the generous balcony.

In winter, the free bus service runs from the end of the road and gives easy access to either Stechelberg (for the Mürren/Schilthorn ski region) and Lauterbrunnen (for the Kleine Scheidegg/Jungfrau ski region). There is also a cross-country skiing (Langlauf) track that running along the Luterbach river at the side of the apartment. In summer, the hiking possibilities are endless along well marked 'Wanderwege' or if that all sounds too strenuous, feel free to while away long lazy afternoons on the sunny balcony.

The apartment has been furnished to a very high standard with quality Swiss beds, stainless steel appliances, Nespresso machine, flat screen TV (with cable channels in multiple languages, including English), Apple TV and iPhone docks. The kitchen is well stocked with good quality cooking utensils, crockery etc and there is both a fondue set and raclette machine as well as a slow cooker. The apartment has excellent wireless broadband and local tourist taxes are all included in the price (at some other places this is extra).

Oh, and did I mention, we have the best view in the whole of Lauterbrunnen ...

The rates quoted are for 6 people staying. A 7th person can be accommodated, sleeping on the very comfortable sofa bed in the lounge room. This will attract an additional charge (added during the booking process) of £25 per night or £150 per week. There is no additional charge if the 7th person is a baby under the age of 1 (a cot is available on request).

I’m tempted not to write a review bc we already want to book again next year and I don’t want it to be gone Fantastic place- easy to get to and amazing views. The kitchen was well stocked so cooking was a breeze. Laundry helped a great deal as well. Bedrooms so our large family felt comfortable and slept great!

Perfect location for our stay. Place was comfortable, clean and cozy. Hostess Diane was very quick to reply to any correspondence. Just steps away from bus stop which was convenient with luggage.

Our stay was marvelous! The apartment itself was spotless and very comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The views of the mountains and waterfalls were unbelievable! The location was a 3 minute walk from a bus stop, yet it is also an easy 15 minute walk into town. We loved that we were in a quiet area away from the bustle of the village. The host answered email questions very promptly, and her directions to locate the property and lock box are very detailed and included photos. The host also checked with us to see if there was anything we needed. Besides the apartment, we highly recommend making dinner reservations for Restaurant Weidstubli at Camping Jungfrau, a 5 minute walk from the apartment. The meal was the best in our 8 days in Switzerland. When we stopped by on Sunday to make another reservation for Monday, we learned they're closed on Monday and Tuesday, so we ordered take away to eat on Monday because the food was so good. We highly recommend both the apartment and Restaurant Weidstubli. We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was exceptional. Everything was as advertised yet better. We had unobstructed views of the Lauterbrunnen valley that were simply amazing. The unit had everything we needed. It was quiet and comfortable. Arrival instructions were perfect and it was easy to find. Thanks so much for a wonderful time. We would definitely stay again,

The location of this apartment is excellent. Right outside the door, you have access to a paved walking path leading into town. The views are incredible and not blocked by other holiday apartments. Overall the space was right for our group: 4 adults and 3 children. We had plenty of room to spread out or find moments to ourselves in any of the three bedrooms. Diane responded with housekeeping when one of our beds needed clean sheets. The apartment did have a few issues, one specifically with bathroom mold, that the owner says she will resolve. We had difficulty finding a parking spot on occasion as other holiday guests used the available parking spaces indicated for the apartment. Otherwise, communication with the owner was relatively prompt and good-natured. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Diane!

Diane was a wonderful host! She responded quickly to any questions and had clear instructions on how to access the property as well as a thoughtful binder on things to do and information about the apartment. The apartment itself was spacious and clean. The views were breathtaking! The bus stop is a 2 min walk to the Lauterbrunnen train station or a 15 min walk to town. I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Switzerland. For reference we were a family of 6 (2 parents, 2 grandparents, 10 and 13 year old)

Overall the property is in a good location with good transport back to the train station. What went bad for us was that on checking in, we found the fridge was turned off and there was water all over the kitchen floor and in the fridge. We texted the owner and were told that she was in Australia and the property manager was out of town. We were told to mop up everything which we did without grumbling. During the stay, the house had too many flies and since there was no AC or fans, it was hard to sleep. I asked the owner if she could provide fans and she told us no. It would be good if the owner can buys a few fans for the rooms.After checking out, a few days later, we were sent an invoice for 50 CHF to cover a broken chair. I told the owner that the chair was there from the beginning and we did not break it. She told us that she believed the property manager since it was the property manager's word against ours. She told us that she was not calling us liars but we were still charged the 50 CHF! So even though the property was good, the overall experience was not what we expected.

This place is amazing. We had high hopes and they were exceeded. We explored the entire valley and neighboring villages and consistently commented that our location was better than anywhere else. We truly loved our stay and it was hard to leave it behind.

Best apartment in the area! Stunning views surrounded by amazing waterfalls, breathtaking mountains and gorgeous goats. Apartment was very spacious, clean, had some thoughtful touches and had all the things you need. It looks better when you are there. Host was attentive, friendly and very helpful. We had a slight issue with the key safe but it was resolved in speedy time. Definitely would recommend. 5* slight

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Diane's home in Lauterbrunnen. One of our nicest stays in any VRBO we've ever stayed in. Totally as advertised! The pictures on the VRBO website do not do the place justice. Her place was very easy to find and everything was so clean and neat The kitchen had numerous spices and accouterments in it, including coffee for the coffee maker. Diane was most accommodating. If we ever go to Lauterbrunnen again, we will stay there. Thank you Diane for making our stay so fabulous! Steven and Cindy

We loved the location. So easy to get to every place we wanted to go. The only thing was the shower curtain and kitchen sponge could have been changed. Stayed a week so would have liked more than one set of towels. Did ask for more and they were delivered promptly.

Outstanding property! All was as described online. Very clean. Kitchen was well stocked to cook in. Location 3 minutes from the bus stop. Very comfortable beds and feather pillows. Shower pressure was great. Diane was very easy to communicate with. Only issue was the first 10 days without a working washer and dryer, but that was soon remedied with new appliances. I would definitely stay here again!! Incredible view!!

An absolutely incredible place! Our group of 4 adults and 2 children were completely comfortable there. Fairy tale view topped everything. This is the very best home ever rented in all our years of travel! Roomy living area with very adequate kitchen, table for 6-8, equipped with TV and sound equipment. Bedrooms comfortably sized, lots of storage. One large bathroom - 2 sinks, huge tub with shower, washer/dryer. 2nd bathroom completely adequate with a large shower. Great balcony - loveseat, chair, and table for 6, along with a grill So awesome to sit out on a nice cool morning, with a cup of Nespresso coffee, and listen to distant cowbells and chirping birds, while admiring the Alps - heaven! The hostess is a lovely, responsive, thoughtful person - many nice touches throughout - stocked with an initial supply of coffee and tea along with various soaps – dish, dishwasher, laundry. A bookshelf stocked with novels, travel books and games. Perfect linens for a good night’s sleep. Path to the river is right in front of the chalet and goes by a base-jumping facility, over the river to an amazing RV park/excellent restaurant, to Staubach Falls, almost all the way up the valley. Farm fridge just a short distance away! If taking a helicopter tour, their base is conveniently nearby. Incredibly easy to get almost anywhere. Chalet Black is truly top-notch!

If you want to stay in Lauterbrunnen, this is 100% the place to stay. I stayed here with my wife and 2 teenage daughters and it was perfect. All appliances worked great and the rooms were very spacious. While the apartment was great, the best part is we counted 7 waterfalls while sitting on the deck. Sitting on that deck is very relaxing and you can see for miles. PLUS the host Diane was unbelievably accommodating and very fast to respond when I had a few unexpected requests. She is amazing to work with. As for location, it is a very short 5 minute walk to the Lauterbrunnen which goes by so quickly b/c of all the sites to see including Staubbachfall waterfalls. There is a canal with crystal clear water and the Weisse Lütschine river only about 200 feet from the apartment. We will return to Lauterbrunnen and when we do, we will absolutely stay here again.

The location of the place was ideal for hiking and getting to many attractions in the area. We enjoyed being out of town where one could enjoy the falls and river. Accommodations had everything we needed and the bus took you from the rails basically to the doorsteps of the place. Would stay there again.

Location, location location!!! Youd be hard pressed to find as nice an apartment in such an amazing location! The apartment has everything you need. The kitchen was well supplied, beds and pillows were comfortable and many amenities were provided. The best part however was the balcony. The location gives you a full unobstructed view of the Lauterbrunnen valley with all of its waterfalls, cows, goats and mountains. We were there for 5 nights and it was so hard to leave. The hiking trails and bus stop are right out your door. We walked to town most days. I would come back again and recommend it to my friends !!

The property was exactly as described! Situated in Lauterbrunnen Valley with stunning views and a bonus of delightful goats next door to entertain us each morninq! The property was clean and the host left a very detailed book with instructions to help our stay go smoothly. The host provided detailed check in directions and her contact info and was responsive to our one question. The property was 1 minute away from the public bus stop and the valley walking trail and about a 5 minute walk from a great restaurant! We were a group of 3 adult couples and it was perfect!

We were in town for our first visit to Switzerland and this was the perfect choice for our group of 4 including a 5 year old. The host Diane was always prompt with communications in answering any questions as well as working with us on a change on the stay dates. Diane was rated a Premier Host on the listing and she proved to us why she carries that rating. The property was exactly as described and the perfect location (incredible view right next to the waterfalls), wonderful condition (cleanliness, nice furniture, location - within 20 minute walk to the end of town, etc.) of the apartment made our stay an amazing memory. Stunning view from the porch with comfortable outdoor furniture was the setting for our Happy Hour celebrations. The home is lovely, comfortable and well- appointed. Diane's chalet was absolutely amazing, truely without any fault. We were a family group of 7 (4 adults and 3 children), there was plenty of space for all of us. Everything was spotlessly clean, beds and pillows were all comfy, plenty of storage space. There was nothing missing, kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and much more. Plenty of cooking basics like oil, herbs, tea, coffee etc. Lauterbrunnen and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning, so much to see and do. Diane's chalet has uninterrupted views down the valley. The pictures on the listing are amazing but even better for real! The location is perfect, just a short scenic route into Lauterbrunnen where you can access railways and cable car, there is also a bus stop very close but we always chose to walk. Parking was easy and there was also a garage. We all had an amazing holiday and would love to stay in Diane's chalet again.

This is a spacious, modern, beautifully furnished, and impeccably clean 3BR apartment with tasteful decor and an absolutely breathtaking view down the Lauterbrunnen Valley! The kitchen was well-equipped and offered everything we needed to have leisurely breakfasts in the morning and cook the occasional dinner on evenings when were not dining out. The house rules/instruction booklet was excellent, giving us instructions on all important matters relating to our stay (WiFi, TV, laundry, hot water, trash disposal, etc.). We also greatly appreciated the organized file folder with brochures, maps, and trail guides for the surrounding area. The apartment is centrally located and a great base from which to explore surrounding towns and attractions, including Muerren, Gimmelwald, Allmenhubel, Wengen, Grindelwald, Grütschalp, Stechelberg, and the Thunersee. It's also close to the base station for the Schilthorn cable car. Our day trip to the Schilthorn was truly a highlight of our visit! The scenery on the way up to the summit and from the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant with 360 degree views on a sunny clear day were spectacular! Diane is a wonderful host who communicated with us before our arrival and answered any questions we had. We would highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a base to explore the magnificent Lauterbrunnen Valley and the Berner Oberland. It was an unforgettable week for our family!

We loved our time in Lauterbrunnen! And we appreciated the quieter side of things as compared to some of the other nearby towns. This property is excellent and as described - the apartment was very clean and comfortable. Our teenagers enjoyed having their own rooms, everything was well-appointed, and the view out the kitchen/living room/deck is spectular. There is right-out-your door access to trails for hiking, running, and exploring. We arrived via train and found no need to have a car while there. The Imboden bike shop in downtown Lauterbrunnen was great for bike rentals. This apartment is just past a large campground, and we found the campground store and restaurant to be helpful resources when we didn't want to walk a little further to get to the coop and restaurants in town. The fresh baked rolls at the camp store became our go-to breakfast for the week. Communications with Diane were prompt and check in/out was easy. Overall, a great place to stay - we hope to return in summer again, or in winter for skiing. Thank you, Diane!

The property is just stunning on every level. Great location on the edge of Lauterbrunnen with the most spectacular views. It is around a 20 minute pleasant walk in to the Town or a short bus ride, with the bus stop 2 mins from the property. The property is very well equipped and a true home from home, beautiful comfortable furniture, the kitchen and breakfast bar is just great and the dining and balcony offer you so many different options to relax and dine. For the evenings we were at the apartment the TV had a great selection of international channels, for all to enjoy. Great for families to enjoy time together or couple of have a quiet retreat. Our host Diane was wonderful and easily contactable, giving great advice and guidance on the local area's and beyond. The Jungfrau Camp site is located about a 5 minute walk away, with a lovely friendly bar and shops. Very peaceful at night and offers true rest after a busy day walking in the mountains. A little gem we did find was Spa Day at the Hotel Eiger in Murren for 34CHF per person. So we had a day off walking and just watched the mountains and views from the pool. We had a fabulous stay and will hopefully visit again in the future.
