Coastal Charm In Clacton On Sea

Insgesamt haben uns England und die Unterkunft sehr gefallen. Die Lage mit Strandblick und die maximal 5 Minuten bis an den Strand sind dabei besonders hervorzuheben. Wir haben die Unterkunft auch genutzt, um weitere Ziele während unseres Urlaubs zu erreichen. Neben einer sehr guten und modernen Ausstattung der Unterkunft, war die Kommunikation und Abstimmung mit dem Vermieter sehr gut und es wurde sich auch aktiv erkundigt, ob wir etwas brauchen bzw. alles haben. Insgesamt ist die Region um Clacton sehr familienfreundlich und trotz Hochsommer absolut nicht überlaufen. Weiterhin ist das englische Klima sowie die englische Küche besser als der Ruf vermuten lässt. Durch eine insgesamt gute Lage der Unterkunft, konnte man hier alle Dinge des täglichen Bedarfs zu Fuß, mit dem Bus oder mit maximal 5-10 Autominuten erreichen. Wir sind eine 4-köpfige Familie (beide Kinder beginnendes Schul- bzw. endendes Kindergartenalter) und können uns nur sehr positiv überrascht von England zeigen. Hier hat die Unterkunft klar zu einem ersten positiven Eindruck beigetragen.

Hier gibt es unsererseits keine negativen Anmerkungen.

Good, quiet location about one mile from Clacton and just a 2 minute walk to the beach. Chip shop and general store nearby and 3 pubs/restaurants. We had an excellent lunch at Kingscliff Hotel. We loved the balcony with a sea view and the sunsets from the balcony by the front door. We could see the sea from every window. The main bedroom was comfortable as were the 2 large sofas. The free carpark, 100 yards up the road, was great. We parked the car and left it there all weekend without having to worry.

We were disappointed that Coastal Charm was obviously an ex-council flat. The access was through a security gate, across the communal space and up two flights of external (fire escape) stairs. This felt both intimidating and intrusive for the permanent residents. We felt guilty holidaying in what could have been an affordable family home. I was emailed several times about proper disposal of rubbish, with threats of fines for not recycling properly, yet, in the property there was a bin for "plastic", a bin for "metal", a bin - with no liner - for "biodegradable waste" and labels on a shelf, in a cupboard, for "glass" and "paper/card". The only general waste bins were the bathroom ones. On departure, we diligently took the rubbish to the communal bins (no mean feat down 2 flights of stairs with inadequate containers!) only to discover that there was no bin for biodegradable or one for glass so they had to go into general waste anyway. This was confirmed by a neighbour. The layout of the second "bedroom" was ridiculous as the, arguably unnecessary, ensuite bathroom took up valuable space resulting in nowhere to put clothes and a sofa bed that, if we had managed to open it, would have obscured the doorway. My daughter slept, quite comfortably, on it as it was. I'm not sure how two people would manage. The ensuite bathroom had impractical, imitation raised pebble effect flooring, which was also on the windowsill. This was uncomfortable to walk on and potentially unhygienic. The cleaners had done their best but impractical choices for furnishings meant that the pale blue sofa bed and carpet were stained. And anyone who thinks a white feather lampshade is a good idea has obviously never had to do any cleaning!!
