Beautiful Designer 2 Bed 2 Bath Old Town - Parking

Not recommended if you drive. Parking was a 8 min walk, and had to enter the property tyo get the key to the carpark, which was in another locker.

Hosts sent pages and pages of instructions. It's understandable as this is in the city centre. Property wasn't as quick as I'm used to to reply. Never experienced having to study for an examination/stay this way...

The location was perfect! Once inside the property we felt very safe and generally there was very little outside noise disturbance (End of April time) There is an ally that runs past one of the bedrooms where some undesirables sat outside, but they were gone by the evening and after all, its a capital city... It felt more like part of the experience... The property decoration could do with a slightly better 'professional' finish and a minor tidy up, but in all fairness, the current condition is what you'd expect from a rental. In no way were these minor details an issue for us. It's just the difference between scoring a 9 instead of a 10! This is just my honest feedback. I would 100% stay here again.

Loved the location and the space

Heavy doors and creaky floors, the lock key box was difficult to open and not that obvious to find.

Great location and size, but constant problems - unusable WiFi, repeated power outages, noisy bedrooms, poor maintenance, and a parking fiasco that could have been much worse if a kind stranger hadn’t stepped in to help us. I wish I’d read some of the Airbnb reviews before booking, because they confirm what we experienced. In general, the way problems were handled didn’t leave us feeling confident or cared for as guests. Even the late checkout policy was mishandled: they advertise it up front, but only told us the day before departure that it wasn’t possible. The hosts did reach out and eventually offered a £300 “goodwill” refund, which I appreciated.

• Parking: A disaster. We followed instructions and parked in one of the listed spaces, only to be blocked in by a van and threatened with a note. It took 30 minutes, endless maneuvering, and - thankfully - the help of a kind Scottish man in the garage to get out. Without him, it would have been far worse. • Internet: Essentially unusable. The host actually stood in our living room scrolling next to the router and insisted 5 down and 0.5 up was “normal for Scotland.” It’s not normal anywhere in 2025. We ended up standing outside the restaurant out front using their free WiFi just to get Google Maps to load. • Power: Went out twice during our stay (once for 4 hours). We had to ask for emergency lights, which they eventually brought. A staff member even admitted outages happen often. • Noise: Both bedrooms face a bar alley. With the windows open, it was loud until 4am. With them closed, it was still loud - and also hot and stuffy since there are no fans. Earplugs are a must. • Quality: Sofas are uncomfortable, the kitchen cabinets are cracked, the bathroom sink is “fixed” with a piece of wood, and the floors creak so badly that walking to the bathroom at night wakes everyone. There’s also nowhere to put luggage in the bedrooms - no shelves, racks, or dressers - so everything stays on the floor. The apartment’s size and location are positives, but overall it felt tired, noisy, and poorly managed. I wish I’d read the Airbnb reviews before booking, because they reflect exactly what we went through. For the price, there are far better options in Edinburgh. We would not stay again.
