Disastrous stay in Tours with an owner who tried to buy my silence

Our stay in Tours was a disaster, and the owner even tried to buy my silence after a series of unacceptable events. We traveled with a 6-year-old child, and both the owner and Booking.com were aware of this. We started trying to contact the owner hours before our arrival at 17:50 to get the instructions to access the property, but he never sent them. Even neighbors tried to help us locate the owner, but with no success. After an hour of waiting and a long call with Booking.com, they informed us they would refund us if the owner did not react within 30 minutes. The owner finally sent access instructions at the last minute—29 minutes later—without any apology, while we were already having dinner. When we accessed the apartment around 21:00, it was in an appalling state: dirty dishes, overflowing garbage, unclean sheets on the beds, and used clothes and toiletries left in the bathroom. The owner called to apologize but blamed the cleaning staff, promising a €30 discount (out of the total €78) for the inconvenience. Cleaners arrived at 22:30 and left past 23:00, disrupting our evening. When we contacted Booking.com after discovering the mess, they refused to offer us a refund or provide any alternative, claiming the owner had reacted. The next day, the owner told us the discount would only be given if we refrained from leaving a bad review, essentially trying to buy our silence. This experience left us deeply disappointed with both the property and Booking.com, as neither took proper responsibility for the situation.

Purtroppo ambiente poco pulito, non adatto ad una famiglia di 4 persone. Consiglio lavaggio divano, pulizia materassi con messa a disposizione per gli ospiti del telo cerato a copertura di materassi e cuscini per garantire maggiore igiene.

Centre ville facilement accessible à pieds. Seul et unique point positif…

Notre séjour a été très décevant. Le logement, censé être prêt à partir de 15h, était encore sale à notre arrivée à 16h. Le linge sale était entassé sur le canapé et l’odeur de tabac froid rendait l’air irrespirable. Malgré nos appels, le propriétaire a mis du temps à répondre et n’a présenté aucune excuse, invoquant qu’ils avaient « 6 autres appartements à préparer »… Nous avons dû partir à un rendez-vous important en laissant nos affaires de valeur, et avons demandé que le ménage soit fait en notre présence à 20h. La personne en charge du ménage n’est finalement arrivée qu’à 21h30. Nous n’avons donc pas pu profiter de l’appartement, ni nous laver, ni manger. L’ « homme de ménage » a simplement changé les draps. Mais le sol était toujours sale (pas aspiré, pas lavé), la cuisine n’était pas nettoyée, la douche était tout simplement dégoûtante, la table basse était encore couverte de miettes, le canapé était plein de taches. La vaisselle et le micro-ondes étaient également dans un état dégoûtant. Les serviettes de bain sentaient mauvais. À cela s’ajoutent : – une très mauvaise isolation phonique (on entend absolument tout ce qui se passe à l’étage au-dessus), – un appartement extrêmement sombre, peu agréable à vivre, – et un stationnement annoncé comme gratuit mais sans aucune place disponible. Je souligne tout de même que le propriétaire nous a remboursé la moitié du séjour, à condition que nous n’en parlions pas… Pratique visiblement récurrente au vue d’autres commentaires. Pour finir, sachez que l’hôte demande une empreinte bancaire de 500€ avant d’envoyer le code de la boîte à clé, et ce, via un lien envoyé par mail.
