Highland Rooms - Room Only No Breakfast

Lovely room in an older, renovated character building. The hosts were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay. We appreciated the good quality coffee, and pieces of original and creatively designed furniture.

The location was convenient, the view of the lock was beautiful, our room had a very comfortable mattress, fresh towels, a small refrigerator, GREAT coffee pods (not instant), this sweet family makes guests feel like part of their own.

Honestly the only suggestion I might have is to have a bottle opener/cork screw in the rooms for the travelers who can’t fly with these items. Otherwise all of our needs were met.

No breakfast which was ok as going for the ferry. Walking distance in to town. Well appointed rooms. Staff very friendly

Having a 15 minute slot to check in and a cut off of 7pm. A key box would overcome this. If you are travelling a ling distance can be stressful. Make clearer in the hall what door to go to for the hosts.

The location is excellent. The bed is comfortable and the provision of the sauna is a nice welcome touch. Onside parking too.

The owners place far too much emphasis on the caring of their children and work/life balance, and how those things impact your stay eg: check-in arrangements are strict! Their messaging comes across a bit OTT. My advice would be to simplify your approach - check in time is X, doors locked at Y, etc. The room we had has a weird configuration and although (as I said) the sauna is appreciated, the layout does not work. It's basically a small bedroom with a corridor. The shower is also located in the toilet and you pull a curtain across. Sorry folks, it didn't work for us.
