The hotel is in the heart of the town. Staff were all welcoming and friendly. We had a good dinner the evening we arrived. Our reservation didn't include breakfast however we had a couple of coffees in the lounge and they were excellent. The room was compact, it was very clean, comfortable and had all you would need, and a large walk in shower in the en suite. As it was on the second floor it had wonderful views out over the loch. We have stayed here a few times and the hotel has been refurbished and modernised since our last visit. As a dog friendly hotel we hope to be visiting again.
There is no lift if you were to need one!

Really nice friendly hotel right in the centre of Ullapool. We booked a superior room which provided a free minibar. Food in the restaurant was excellent as was the free parking, bar and coffee lounge. Very dog friendly too. Will stay here again without doubt.
Breakfast was great but a menu should be provided to minimise the waste of surplus items. Other than tat, a great hotel.

Location to the ferry terminal and parking facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful, allowed us to book in early.
Nothing, great overnight stay.

After a long rainy, chilly drive with my wee dog we had a warm welcome at the Caledonian. Staff were lovely, especially to Mabel, my dog so especiallydoggie friendly. Room was spacious, clean and the bed was exceptionally comfy. I had Seabass in the restaurant then apple strudel and both were delicious. The hotel is perfectly placed for seeing Ullapool but also just around the corner from the ferry terminal. It's also really good value for money.

Breakfast was a bad experience for my husband. Very ill on the way home about 4 hours later. Had to be the mushrooms, he ate all these. Sick and stomach pain for the rest of the day.

Customer Service was very good. We arrived late, a large group, and our ferry for the next day had been cancelled. The lady on reception gave lots of advice and was super helpful
Bathroom had a few things that looked like they needed fixing in it.

Handy for the ferry and right in the centre of the town. Restaurant on-site.
Room very small and shower was poor.
In the morning at breakfast three staff were hanging about , but little help with the buffet breakfast. The breakfast itself was poor quality and horror of horrors Porridge was instant pots that you added boiling water to. This is Scotland for goodness sake. Please don’t tell me buying in those pots is cheaper than making a pot of porridge.

Nice relaxed Highland hospitality. Loads of lounging space, option to dine or eat in Bistro- we arrived after 8pm, winter season, so missed dinner. Twin room had lovely comfy crisp beds. It was quiet, everything just as we liked it- clean, spacious, coffee/tea/hot choc all there. Plenty of storage for our clothes. Well ventilated. Free parking.
We couldn’t get a hot shower at night but we did in the morning. Single glazing wouldn’t be everyone’s idea of comfort but we liked the old fashioned feel, the windows could be opened and we were warm despite it being very cold out.

Lovely breakfast and a very nice room.
However the thing that makes this hotel is its staff - they are very kind helpful and caring.
This is probably the tenth time I have stayed here over the years.
I didnt realise I had to pay for the dog.

Excellent situation, large room, spotless linen, staff friendly and welcoming. Very good value for the quality of room.
Toilet hadn’t been flushed on arrival! Flaking paint on bathroom ceiling (room 22). Later checkout very expensive but staff assured me it would be fine to spend the day in the hotel lounges, which it was.

Location and free parking.
Beds were uncomfortable. I felt every spring. There was no mattress topper and the mattress protector and the sheet kept slipping off. They didn’t fit. Pillows were basic and uncomfortable. Other guests wandering around at 4am talking in the corridor. Paper thin walls.
Restaurant service was very poor. Practically ignored when we asked for a table. Food at dinner was half decent but there are better places to eat.
Spend a little more and avoid the disappointment.

Good food, typical cooked breakfast buffet and the restaurant has a decent menu to choose from for dinner. If you dont fancy the restaurant menu there are a couple of good chip-shops close by. Our room had a well stocked mini-bar included in the price.

Great location and friendly staff.
The food at the hotel was very basic. More like a pre made and reheated style of food. Most of the menu was deep fried, al tasted slightly greasy.
Breakfast was very average, dry and overcooked food. Little choice of healthy options.

Room and hotel were very good, staff were very friendly easy parking, food was very good.
Room was on the third floor so quite a climb with luggage.

location fantastic. comfortable hotel, the rooms were updated beautifully and staff lovely

Hotel is improved after it's makeover. It used to be quite tacky and only worth staying in for the proximity to the ferry. The rooms are nice, beds comfy, restaurant pretty good, a little more expensive than average, basic menu.
beware - service is included in the restaurant bill

Lovely loving/bar area. Restaurant lovely. In a nice location.
The rooms were through a long corridor and doors. The plumbing noise.

The hotel location was excellent being in the heart of town. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the dining room which was good.
There wasn’t a lot of hot water when we had showers about 7.30am each day. We had rooms in the old original part of the hotel which were quite small and didn’t look what the picture of the rooms when we booked.

Bar and restaurant were great
Rooms have been renovated and are much improved

A bit pricey (it was busy so prices go up)
Floors are creaky especially the rooms above

The Room was ideal and all the facilities I required were good.
The meal I ordered was barely warm. However when I made an observation about this an alternative was provided without any fuss. The broccoli was a bit raw . It needed a bit more cooking although I appreciate overcooking would have been worse!

Tea facility's were ok
The size of the room. Bedroom area was smaller than the bathroom. I turned over in the middle of the night and hit my head on the shelf that was next to the bed. It was in a bad position and overhang the bed. Very bad. Corridor was noisy and there was a gap under my door so a noisey night of people walking past

Very comfortable & spacious room that had everything we needed. Great location, right next to the main street but still quiet. The coffee shop at the hotel was a highlight for us. The staff were really helpful & friendly too.
The room was a bit too warm, even with the window open all night. The shower is also quite a tight fit & there was nowhere to put toiletries, so it was quite an uncomfortable shower.

Great location, short walk from the ferry. Locked bike shed. Staff were really helpful. Simple clean room.

Bathroom was nice and clean and the bed quite comfortable. Location is good in Ullapool, it's fine to stay if you're passing by but skip the restaurant.
The room itself didn't have any character and felt quite basic. Hotel breakfast was very bland. A bit pricy for the hotel standard.

The Caledonian hotel is a good stopover in readiness for the Ferry. Breakfast was extra but was reasonably priced and had a good selection and choice to cater for a variety of needs. We also had dinner at the hotel in the bar area and the food was good. The hotel allows dogs and this is a key positive.
The room size was small and limited and very hard to move when we had to facilitate even a small dog cage. We had made our booking in advance including the dog so were disappointed at the room allocated as it didn't suit our needs and asked for an alternative but were informed no other rooms were available.

Ullapool is nothing marvellous

Location was good, nice bar and restaurant.
No lift.. I was on the second floor, in my sixties, and there was no offer to carry my suitcase up to my room. Also no phone in the room. Was told by receptionist that no lift/phone was due to it being a Listed Building… Really??
In addition the windows in my bedroom and bathroom were the old single glazed type, and rattled with the wind.
Despite the modern look and feel to the room and bathroom, no lift, no phone, and single glazed windows is archaic in this day and age.

Large bedroom with a great view. Liked that you only got your room cleaned if you put the tag out. If not out then you were not bothered. The room type we had meant the mini bar items were all free.
Did not like that we were offered lorne sausage rather than link sausages for breakfast.
