Within 0.8 miles, you will find a shop, within 0.7 miles, a pub and a river, please note that two well-behaved dogs are welcome but sorry, no smoking. Derwentwater, a beautiful lake at the head of the breathtaking Borrowdale Valley, is only a short stroll from the town centre. The stunning Newlands Valley is nearby, situated between Braithwaite and Buttermere, and the charming Bassenthwaite Lake is definitely worth a visit. Everything from a leisurely stroll through the countryside to a strenuous walk up Skiddaw or the renowned Catbells is available. Visit the Jennings Brewery, Mirehouse, a magnificent home and gardens on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, or go on a wonderful boat tour of Derwentwater. Any time of year, this is a great Lakeland destination thanks to the abundance of family-friendly attractions, beautiful parks, and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park.
