Great stay in beech lodge

Location was great!

On arrival the apartment was dirty. Painters had been into the property and left the it in a mess. Ashtray full of used cigarettes. Paint scrapings all over. Darren the site manager immediately moved us to the beech lodge. Which was immaculate! He apologised about apartment number 4 and said it should have been deep cleaned.

A good short break

The apartment generally had good sized rooms (except main bedroom) and was in a great location next to the River Greta and very close to the cycle path to Keswick. The living & dining area was spacious and clean and although the kitchen was small it had everything we needed.

The bathroom was very dated with a shower over bath arrangement which was positioned at the opposite end to the taps requiring you to stand at the sloping part of the bath. In addition, if you are over 5ft 10in you may struggle to wash your hair. The whole apartment was looking as if it could do with a refresh. The TV was limited and struggled with signal some evenings. Main bedroom was snug.

Very good location and accommodation

Great location to get into and around Keswick. Lots of free parking. 2 mile walk into Keswick town centre. Apartment 4 was up one flight of stairs. No noise from other occupants. Can see and hear River Greta. Balcony overlooking the river. Double bed firm but comfy. All linen, towels, pillows fell good quality. Electric shower just powerful enough. Sofa and armchair comfy. WiFi solid. Kitchen well equipped. Large fridge/freezer. Heating good.

Mixer tap in the kitchen needs replacing. TV needs updating and a larger size. Thermostatic radiator valve in lounge wouldn't switch off when I wanted it cooler.

When we arrived there was no slip mat in the bath and Zi slipped twice in the bath having a shower. The receptionist the next day said there should have been an anti slip mat which she brought over but it wasn't a very good one

A nice, quiet place to stay, not far from Keswick

It's a nice place, quiet, close to a river. On the edge of the property there's an old railway track that has been turned into a pretty walking path. You can get to Keswick that way.

It's not in Keswick (though I knew that in advance). You can only really get there by driving. There is no local shop--not even a place to buy a pint of milk.

There was no breakfast.

When we got lost getting there as the directions were noted on the initial e-mail that I received but never in any of the further notifications so I only had a postal code which lead us to 2 other false locations. This made us after 6 when we arrived. I sent an e-mail asking re help as there was no phone service and never received an answer to my e-mail. We were 4 people and only one key. One role of toilet paper for 4 people and 4 days and never could find someone so had to buy our own toilet paper. No directions in the room re the wi-fi password.
