Good value for money

The room was big and tidy. The air conditioning worked and all required amenities worked as well. Plenty of tea and coffee and bottled water. Staff were friendly and the stay was pleasant. Had this room in a fairly last-minute booking so was great value for money

Two of the cups were not completely clean but everything else was. There water pressure was a bit weak but not a deal-breaker. A few rough characters around too but that can be expected in Newport town centre and not something the hotel has much control over

Good stay in Newport

Great location with NCP across the road and train station very close. Stay was good and we enjoyed it. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Staff were really nice and polite.

Breakfast wasn't much to write about, but it was complimentary so no loss to us. Shower was a good temperature but not very powerful.

Hotel can use an upgrade. AC/Heating panel was broken. It was an overnight stay so can't complain much. Breakfast area needs an upgrade, including the menu. had to use an air freshener in room to make the odd scent disappear.

Location was perfect, very central. CLose to the train station and only 5 minutes from the motorway. The bed was good, and the room we had had faced the station side, so no problems with the noise complaints other guests mentioned.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was in a state that fell well below my expectations. After trying so shower for the first time, the water wouldn't drain, so we opened the shower trap. It was chock full of hair, and mould and looked like it had not been cleaned in months. Mould also growing in the corners of the shower and around the edges. The sink was also blocked, so we got bleach and sorted the problems out ourselves as we did not trust the property management to do a better job than they seem to have done up to that point.

A comfortable and inviting hotel base for exploring South Wales.

The location was fantastic - right on the doorstep of a shopping mall with a good variety of stores plenty of dining options. The train station was across the road making trips to attractions like Cardiff Castle quick and easy. The rooms were spacious, well maintained and comfortable. The staff of the Belvilla were just amazing too- so helpful and attentive. I must give a big shout out to Abdu who insisted on providing a complimentary breakfast to my party of 10 when he learned on our departure that we had a long drive North to Liverpool.

Comfortable relaxing stay, with no dramas.

Extremely polite staff, location next to the train station was perfect, 18 minute walk to the passport office. I had the Sunday night deal included a free breakfast which was superb. Bed super comfortable, hot water on demand coffee, tea plenty of and bottled water. Everything perfect

Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and warm furnishings. Great shower with lots of toiletries and fluffy towels. TV was modern and lots of tea provided.

So why didn't I like it? It's the building itself.! It's a stunning looking property from the outside. The hotel occupies a section of a very old city block, and other businesses occupy other sections. However, those businesses don't go to bed at night, so I could not rest until 4am. The sound of thumping base and vibrations was intolerable. A city centre hotel obviously gets external noise, but this was inside! Someone messed up the insulation! If you want to go clubbing until 3am, in a great location,and for a good price, this hotel is perfect. But if you have an early start or important meeting, then try the Travelodge instead.By the way, my stay was a Thursday night.

Nightmare nightclub

Really comfy Very clean

Nightclub open till 04.15 very close by and extremely loud.(see picture from my bedroom window to show how close it was. ) Unable to close outer secondary glazing . Didn't have breakfast as catching up on some sleep. Bath sides higher than usual and when getting in ended up face down as ridiculously slippery. Luckily only bruises and sore head. Went to speak with reception when leaving to make them aware of problems but no-one there until 12.00

Tv did not work in room, staff could not really care about it, breakfast disappointing not as shown cooked breakfast ok no coffee machine instant only, no continental breakfast items fruit looked past it best !

Excellent location. Quickest check in I’ve ever had and clean. Room sizeable

Huge letdown by ‘breakfast’. No one at reception and one person in the kitchen. Warm squash not juice and dodgy fruit, no hot food available just dregs. Didn’t get to have anything as by the time I was asked if I wanted anything (which advised would be 10-15 mins) it was time to head off, this was 8am. Stairwell and lift areas are very smelly, poor drainage possibly.

Parking was £12 but not mentioned anywhere prior to booking, it only states parking No mention of an extra £15 for our pet as above No free breakfasts as advertised Worst of all was the NOISE why is there a rave next door until 4am? I booked a hotel not a nighclub and your foreign staff were useless

The hotel was clean. It was basic, but everything you required was there. We didn't expect a cooked breakfast considering the price, which was a surprise

Perhaps a bit more milk in the room would have helped. The window didn't open is that for safety reasons. The shower didn't drain away properly

Clean and spacious but breakfast could be better

We liked how spacious the room and bathroom were. Everything was working well in the bathroom, etc. Room service tidied up the bathroom area every day. Also, the beds were nice and comfy. Overall, we had a lot of space as a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 child, on a separate bed). At breakfast, I liked the range of hot drinks available.

The breakfast was very oily. The hashbrowns were soaked in oil most of the days, except for the last day when the breakfast was better on the whole. . Room service could also replenish the mineral water in the room everyday and tidy up the room everyday as beds were not made. Be aware that parking is not available in this building but in a building nearby. The area on the whole can be a bit dodgy since it is near the station, although it is also lively.

The staff is responsive and tries to help. Very good mattress, you can sleep well. Quite clean in the room and bathroom.

It's not the hotel's fault, but even during the day we met drunk screaming homeless people right in front of the hotel. Parking the car in the nearest car park cost us 8 pounds, since the hotel does not have its own parking. Breakfast, although we arrived at the appointed time (since at the reception we were told to choose the exact time of breakfast, we chose 9 am), breakfast was almost all eaten and there was not enough food to feed everyone. The girl-cook added only beans from a can and did not bother herself with cooking a few more portions of omelette and fried sausages.

Perfect

I had a really pleasant stay at the hotel. The lady at the reception was super friendly and made check-in feel really welcoming. The location couldn’t have been better, just a short walk from the railway station, which made getting around really easy. The housekeeping team did a great job keeping the room clean and comfortable throughout my stay. The only tiny thing was that the complimentary water bottle wasn’t replaced after room service one day, but honestly, everything else was spot on.

Came back to the hotel today and had another great experience. The housekeeping ladies, Malini and Andreea, always do such a great job - my room was super clean and tidy. Prashansa at the reception was lovely and very helpful, as usual. All three of them are so friendly and professional. The hotel looks beautiful and everything went smoothly with my stay. No complaints at all - very happy to be back!

I did feel that some of the hot breakfast items needed cooking longer and they were always very hot, just warm- which put me off- apart from that a lovely selection of breakfast items in a calming seating area. The noise from a near by club went on well into the early hours

Excellent central location for single traveller and near railway station.

Breakfast was self service, both hot and cold with a wide range of cold drinks, range of teas and cereals cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurts and a range of coffees dispenser. Toaster, jams and butter. Very clean and tidy.

Nothing that I can think of. Room was large, air conditioned and clean with usual TV, tea/coffee and water bottles. Very good sound insulation as overlooked noisy precinct. Railway station 5 minutes walk away.

Very good value for the rate. Room was large and clean. Quite. Staff very Nice. Breakfast was okay. It was not the Best I ever had but in comparison with price it was perfect.

The area was not really nice in the evening.(near train station) It looked quite rough. It has not been a problem as soon as you are inside hotel. It is a safe place

Terrible, our booking didn’t exist. Do not book!

We booked this hotel because of its location to the train station. However, when we arrived our booking apparently did not exist. I could hardly believe what I was being told. I even requested a check in time of 14:00 2 weeks earlier, which was confirmed by the hotel. We were going to a concert in Cardiff and having booked 8 months ago, I was completely shocked. The hotel left us in the lurch and we couldn’t relax and enjoy the evening as much, knowing that we had a long drive ahead of us in the early hours of the morning. They even sent an email via booking.com stating I hadn’t checked in and I was a No show. Can’t get hold of the hotel to confirm that they are not going to charge me. Terrible! Do not book this place. Check trip advisor for very similar reviews!
