Great stay to watch 6 nations

All staff were outstanding, friendly and approachable. Room was very clean, and a great selection at breakfast

Lacking in storage, no drawers on bedside tables, fridge should be available all rooms, we were disappointed not to have a fridge to keep drinks cool.

Having comfy lie in. Watching the morning break over the horizon then observing the weather changes over the distant hills followed by the rain!

Extended stay from previous day but couldn't get back into room as key not updated to reflect this so needed to return to reception from 12th floor (thank goodness for elevators!) A couple of tv channels had no sound whatsoever, spoke to a manager who said they would fix it but I said leave it until after I'd gone as didn't want to be disturbed

Most things as always. Room spacious, clean, well equipped with tea/coffee etc. 12th floor really good view of the river, surrounding area. Comfy bed.

Breakfast was not up to the usual standard. Dry , overcooked, less choices than before ie no mushrooms, the offering was just about luke warm and there was over an hour until the close of breakfast time. Very unimpressed, disappointed. Surprised by limited tv channel choices, lacking Welsh ones!

The Staff were excellent! The upgraded our room. The hotel was beautiful we will be booking again very soon! I asked them to decorate the room for my boyfriend bday and that done a fantastic job!

Comfortable, good value stay.

Very clean room, great to be given a free breakfast from Booking.com. Shame I couldn’t fully enjoy it as I had a run that morning but customer service was excellent.

Lovely looking hotel with nice staff, perfect if you have to stay in Newport.

Fantastic staff who were very kind to my dad who stayed there last minute as my mum had to stay overnight in the nearby hospital. This was on a very bad stormy snowy night.

Unfortunately there was no hot water in the morning for a shower as the boiler had broken. Shame a discount wasn’t offered against another stay in a mercure hotel, that bit was lacking with regards to customer satisfaction.

Clean, comfy, roomy place to stay in Newport centre, will definitely stay there again.

Good central location, room was a good size, faultlessly clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had requested a room on a low floor as I am afraid of heights, and the one I was allocated was perfect. Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful, and offered a good variety. Good place to stay.

I walked past the entrance twice on arrival, as it was dark and the foyer/doorway was not well illuminated.

Has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Central location. Value for money upgrades available after booking. We booked a standard room and received an option to upgrade to a junior suite for a very low cost. Room was spotless. Lovely staff member at reception. Amazing views of the city on the top floors. Tv had casting. Grateful for the complimentary water in mini fridge- 1 water per person would’ve been nice.

Room was extremely warm and windows don’t open (we were on top floor) AC didn’t go low enough to cool room off but had we asked for a fan I’m sure we would have got it. Pillows could do with renewing.

Hard to point out what I liked. As there were a lot of dislikes. Maybe the cleanliness is the only good thing about the hotel

Great weekend away, nice hotel at a reasonable price

Hotel is in a nice spot, parking is 15 pounds for the weekend as well if you park in the bottom of Friars Walk. Staff are very helpful and friendly and dealt with an unruly patron very well. Essentially the absolute tool took some illicit drugs (Was hallucinating) and set the alarm off at 4am. Staff dealt with him well and were very good with everyone else. Staff remained professional even after the police left him (Even though he damaged the hotel) until they eventually came back and took him away. The staff turned absolute chaos into an inconvenience they were apologetic for.

Nothing in the end, wasnt happy at the time of the incident but the hotel sorted everything out and the rest of the weekend was great!

I stayed in Voco in Cardiff on Friday prior to arriving to mercure. The service was absolutely appalling.

I had asked your hotel to do something special for my wife’s birthday and I walked into a standard room. Your hotel reception manager says he doesn’t know anything because his shift only steered an hour ago. Disappointed!

Pleasant and friendly staff, warm welcome. Room was clean and well presented. Bed was extremely comfortable. Was lush to have a walk in shower with the controls at the entrance, did take a few mins for the water to warm up tho...

Room was too warm when first going in but was able to reduce the temperature, which was more comfortable after around 20-30 mins.
