Excellent

The staff were excellent – everything was clearly explained and they were very helpful. The location was also great, close to public transport stops, which made getting around quick and easy.

The only downside was that the bathroom was quite cold, which caused some discomfort, but apart from that, everything was great.

Silvia at checkin was very attentive but due to the road and delivery noise it’s unlikely I would return.

Although earplugs were supplied the Co Op delivery at 07:00 in the morning was too noisy to sleep through.

Fantastic!

Wow! What can I say…. This place was a great find. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. It had everything in there that you could want. The communal area was brilliant and there was breakfast and tea and coffee provided as well that I didn’t expect. The staff from the communication was so helpful to me during my stay. I cannot find fault with this place. I would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you so much.

This is probably the best mid-end hotel i have stayed not only in Uk but in the whole Europe. As an owner of apartments

Exceptionally clean and friendly. Amazingly fast interaction to everything we asked. Shared Breakfast policy which we loved , made us feel like home. Bonus: It has a very nice window with an inside sofa on the sill. Really cool to enjoy your coffee lying on it.

If i could note something and be realistic, it’s the same issue all the UK rooms have (well and propably in the whole world). Hearing insulation. But well it is not a big issue as the hotel has a strict rule of quiet after 22:00 which actually resolves the issue.

Best stay in a long time

Small breakfast supplies for free - toast, milk, jam, butter, tea and coffee, cereals. Take and swap shelfs. Take a book, game, Cosmetics even clothes or leave some for others to use, if you don't need it anymore. Easy to reach by bus and just a short walk (10min) if arriving by tram. A bit outside of the city centre. Took us about 35mins walking to get to Princess street .

A lovely accomodation: budget friendly, calm, and charming.

The staff were super friendly, the room small but tidy, and because I had the third-floor single room facing the garden, it was very quiet. Even though there is no breakfast served, the simple kitchen facilities were a huge plus. The hotel is situated in a peacuful area in Leith and there is a bus to the centre of Edinburgh leaving almost in front of the house. Tram stop and Leith's shops and restaurants are just a 15-minute walk from the house.

Some of the furniture were a bit worn down but nothing too bad. The room could have a full-lenght mirror on the wall.

Beautiful Room, Amazing Hosts

We truly enjoyed our stay! The room was beautiful, with a wonderful view from the window and a comfortable, spacious bed — I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was well thought out: there were shampoos, earplugs, coffee, and tea. We loved the shared kitchen, stocked with cereals, milk, spreads, and toast bread, so you can help yourself and prepare breakfast or enjoy a cup of coffee. There were also board games and cozy background music, which made the atmosphere even nicer. The hosts were exceptionally friendly — they let us check in early, kept our luggage on the last day, took great care of us, chatted with us, and were ready to help with anything we needed. Highly recommended!

Wonderful people running a beautiful accommodation!

This was a wonrderful stay in a beautiful house. Our room was lovely, it had all the amenities. We got more water delivered into the room every day. There is no breakfast per se, but there is a possibility to Easy bustrip to city cetnre. All in all the possibility to travel within the city from 4 Friends House is great. Also lovely walking path (The Water of Leith pathway) along the river is just a couple of minutes walk away. Super friendly staff. I forgot my book into the room and they delivered it to me to where I had gotten after check out!! Great communication through out. Thank you Lukas & Silvia!!

Nice affordable small hotel with friendly staff

Nice small hotel with 10 rooms, very friendly staff. Clean and quiet, at least at the backside where i stayed. Facilities for coffee and tea in the room, bed and bathroom good. Downstairs in the receptionroom, a fridge and complimentary bread, cruesli, fruits and cookies you can eat, supermarket opposite the hotel, breakfast cafe very near (medo cafe) two nice Chinese take-away restaurants very near (ginger express is the best), and the bus to the center (7 or 14) is 50 meters from the hotel. Had a very nice 5 days here. The photo is my view from the room.

My private bathroom was outside my room, not a real problem but less convenient

4 friends house is a lovely stay!

The location is excellent. The house is near the Leith waterfront and right next to bus lines to take you into the city center. There are also great food places and cafes nearby.

Absolutely loved it and would definitely go back

The property was great, I personally would have preferred a lower floor but it was not really a problem. Room was clean and bed very comfortable. I like a couple of pillows at home but again that wasn’t a problem. The property is very central to Edinburgh and our favourite restaurant the ship on the shore. Lovely touches were the share box in the bathroom with an assortment of things you might have forgot, a downstairs kitchen with a choice of fruit and cereal and a selection of milk to use as well as tea and coffee making facilities in your room. Ear plugs were also a nice touch although not needed as it was nice and quiet

Clean and comfy room, reasonably priced, with very helpful staff.

We weren't at Four Friends for long as we arrived late and had to leave early, but it was a clean, spacious room with good linen and en-suite very near a bus-stop; and a short journey to/from Edinburgh centre (n.b. Leith Walk looked just as interesting and with a wide choice of pubs and restaurants.). It was very friendly and thoughtful service. Prior to our arrival Lukas gave us some great restaurant recommendations and told us what buses to catch from the train station.
