American Inn Grover Beach

Excellent hotel, very clean, modern room and you can tell that the owner really cares about his guests. They have all the amenities you need. Staff is very friendly and available for any help you may need. Great experience!

My adult kids and I were going to an event in San Luis Obispo and just the night before our trip, we decided to get a room. We searched all over the Five Cities, looking for a place that would be safe, clean, relatively updated, affordable, and at least 8.0 out of 10. Not at all easy to find. Thought we were going to have to drive further away. We decided on this place and we were happy with the choice. The gentleman we met at check-in / checkout were friendly. The area was quiet. The beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. We were happy to have a second story room with windows that were somewhere other than the main walkway. We were able to keep them open for our whole visit and the fresh cool air was wonderful. I would say the only negatives were that the curtains were a bit shabby. You could see light shining through holes behind them and they hung out over the bed. But I just pushed them back behind the headboards and it was fine. And though the whole room looked spotless, the next morning I was walking around barefooted (which I rarely feel comfortable doing in these places) and when I went to put on my socks, I found that the bottom of my feet were filthy. But having the windows open, perhaps we contributed to dust on the floor. Or maybe just the floors were accidentally neglected on the last cleaning because everything else was fine. I would say those two things are very minor, unless you had little ones playing on the floor. We would definitely stay here again.

The parking is easy, just in front of the building. The manager is very customer friendly.

Room was clean and well set up. Parking was convenient and safe. Lots of dining and shopping nearby. Quiet.

The male working the front desk was very very nosey. He assumed I was lying about who was staying with me. I made it very clear to him it was 2 adults and 2 kids and he charged me for the kids. I was traveling with other family who were not staying there or with me and he kept asking them questions and literally following them around the premises to see where they were going and when they were leaving. They made it clear to him two or three times that they were picking something up from me. Overall that was extremely uncomfortable! And he promised a refund for charging me extra for my kids. And I have yet to get that. I would not recommend this place.

Walls were thin - you could literally hear anything that happened outside of the room, or upstairs. There were ants in the bathroom. They charged for toothpaste. Appliances were dingy.

Easy check in check out. Clean and convenient

I really liked how convenient it was to the beach and the nearby area was really nice as well. It was quiet and very adequate, I would come back and stay here again, the front desk person was very nice and helpful (:

I hope one day this inn would upgrade to have ice maker in the property and heat in the room. (There is only A/C in the room where we stayed.)

Got there late but they were still willing to check us in and and were very nice about it. Room was very clean and comfortable. Would absolutely stay again.

Very loud surroundings of the building AC didn’t work rooms are very outdated and dirty. No matter the value would not recommend anybody. You won’t have a good sleep. Bed was not comfortable.

Clean, Quiet, and safe. The beds are comfortable and clean. Its close to the beach and food.

Very different from pics and highly overrated

Very thin walls and ceiling I can hear the people walking around upstairs as if they were in my room. The bed springs and the bed not too comfortable in the springs were very noisy as if they were rusty or something every time you move around you hear big clunk… also they did not have a smart TV. Only DIRECTV channels cannot watch your Netflix or Amazon.

Room was very clean

The proprietors are Patels - they know how to run a great hotel/motel. Everything was great. Definitely do not book via Expedia, though -- just go to American Inn's website to book. Cheaper that way. And, Expedia is a horrible company! They will book you with hotels that do not honor the reservation! Expedia really sucks. That was my mistake - using Expedia. American Inn is great, though.

Perfect stop for a quick night in town with very friendly staff.

Beds in both rooms we stayed at had hairs. Manager was rude.

Ac makes a lot of noise. Toilet make noise the whole night

Did not like this place or the area

Quiet, clean room. Front desk person could not recommend any seafood restaurants as he only ate Indian food. No Klenex found.

No ice. What American hotel doesn’t have ice! Fridge didn’t work. Bed sheets were not fitted.

We were very happy with this hidden gem around the corner from Pismo Beach. Super clean and accommodating!

The water pressure was GREAT!! The beds felt soft and comfortable. Will definitely come back!

The staff here is very kind! My family goes here everytime we are in Grover Beach.
