Do not miss staying here - especially if you have kids! What a cute little inn with the BEST most friendly staff, great breakfast and the best part - the playgrounds for the kids - indoor and outdoors! The train stop into town is literally a 3 min walk away and there’s a grocery store 1 min away which was the cherry on top! Highly recommend booking Chärnsmatt if you’re visiting the Luzern area!

Property entrance is hard to find, GPS according to address on listing was not correct. Entrance from main road had been closed at some point with concrete pillars. Should open this back up. Rooms need updated and air in rooms would be a good improvement. So seems to be over priced considering. Property had what looked to be a older elevator that could be repaired but only stairs available which was shown in post. Seemed to have allot of things for kids that were cute. Restaurant too was nice but the highest priced meal we have had here.

Area was very small and no AC

No Air conditioning was a BIG surprise. Asked for Fan as a compromise, which also took long to leave us is sweaty condition. Bathroom too small, to barely move inside.

I can't beleive that this property doesn't have an elevator to the third floor. I have solid knee pain, and I had to carry my big suitcase up the stairs. Separately, there is no AC in the room. It was like 85 f outside, and inside it was like 100..

It was conveniently located next to the bus stop. If you like chuck e cheese or noisy kiddy playgrounds this would be the place to stay.

perfect stay if you bring your kid to Switzerland. Lots of places to have fun - but sadly could not take a train due to rain 😢 breakfast was also very nice. 10min to Luzern by bus for free with the visitor card. the supermarkenext to the hotel was recommendable.

Great place on top of restaurant

Great place to stay near Luzern downtown and main train station. Easy to get via bus form the train station. Breakfast was great and service!!

The best part of the trip was the service. The people went out of their way to be helpful and were very friendly! Service was amazing!

Nice hotel

In a quiet area. A little bit away from the main touristy area. Good to stay with a car.

We enjoyed this property. Checking in was easy and they are very friendly. The room was spacious with a balcony. Lots of things for kids there (it didn’t apply to us but if you have kids that are under 10, lots of things). Our only negative was the weather was 91 during day getting down to 78 and no air conditioner. There was a fan but it was hot. So be ready if summer and you’re not use to that. Traveling any other time of year this place is great! The staff are really friendly and helpful. It’s about 15 to 20 min to Lake Lucerne.

Everything about this property was great EXCEPT ONE major thing. No air conditioning. They provide fans which only move around hot air. It was mid 80's (F) in the daytime and at night the room was at least 85. The primary function of a hotel is to sleep comfortably and this was completely impossible. For the price they charge this shouldn't be the case.

The staff are all super nice and the breakfast is excellent! The windows need maintenance and there is no curtains.

Rooms were so hot, no refrigerator and microwave. One room was in the roof with no elevator access for luggage.

This isn't just a place to sleep; it's a complete destination that truly understands hospitality and creates joy for all ages. From the moment we arrived, the warm and genuinely friendly staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Check-in was smooth, and they were always on hand with a smile, ready to assist with any request, making us feel valued guests rather than just another booking. The atmosphere throughout the Gasthof is one of comfort and genuine care. For families with small kids, the "Spielparadies" (play paradise) would be an absolute game-changer. The extensive outdoor playground, with its unique and beloved Liliput Railway are surely amazing . The indoor play area is also a fantastic bonus, ensuring fun even on a rainy day. This focus on family-friendly amenities truly sets CHÄRNSMATT apart. Beyond the incredible play facilities, the culinary experience was a highlight. The breakfast was one of the best in our entire Europe trip. Especially a lady staff with a very beautiful smile, greeted us with a genuine, warm smile and a cheerful "Good morning!" that instantly brightened our day. Her energy was infectious, and she created such a welcoming and positive atmosphere in the breakfast area.

This is a homey, Bed& Breakfast like property. Basic, clean, next to Denner-grocery store, bus stop on the corner with free pass to Lucerne city. It was the perfect place for us- sort of in the middle to get to Interlaken & Zurich. They have wonderful people that made our stay extra special- Alina, Valerie & Lily. Danke!

Good hotel, they do close lobbby so we had to call to get key but worked out okay. Would be nice if lobby lights were left on later on

We had a great time, especially the attic room! But no elevator access to our room. Everything was spotless. The staff were nice but a bit strict.

Walking in to a bunch of children running around was a little strange. The room was spacious. There was no good way to adjust the temperature of the room so at times it was too hot. Overall my family and I had a good time.

All good and nice about the property, free parking. Nice staff and services, really enjoyed our stay.

Couldn’t get into the property even though just arrived a bit after sunset, as no details sent to us how to enter as there is nobody at the reception it is self check in kind of hotel and the main entrance locked with a key pad . If a Good Samaritan lady didn’t help us we couldn’t have gotten in the hotel.

Great value for the money, specially for families. Hotel staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was included and very good. Very comfortable beds, spacious, and clean. Can use some update, that's why we don't give it five stars. It was a fantastic stopover for us.

We are a family of 4 pax. Staff was very helpful even though they speak limited English. Spacious room and quiet neighborhood.
