Lovely with a gorgeous view

fourth time we have stayed - so we do like it this time we had a bedroom in the annexe - the room was for disabled access which was not what i booked the bed was a double so too small for 2 to sleep in comfort and there was no ventilation or air conditioning so it was stifling

First impressions weren’t great as the man on reception was unfriendly and bordering on rude for the majority of our stay. We had requested a dog friendly room with a view of the sea, and the booking stated a king sized bed. Our room was small with a double bed and frosted window, although did have a dog goodie bag, bed and bowl which was a nice touch. The room was exceptionally hot, even with the fan supplied. The room was also very noisy-particularly as the hotel appeared to do all of its glass recycling at 7am on a bank holiday Monday right outside of our window! Our evening meal was disappointing. There was a very helpful young chap working on the Monday morning who offered us help taking our bags to the car. The town itself is lovely with nice walks.

Great pub Fantastic Ploughmans!

Beautiful location on the estuary. Rooms above a pub and an older building so a bit noisy at times. But very comfortable rooms, staff were amazing and very helpful. Would stay again.

We had a family room which was very luxurious for two people. Comfortable, spacious and with 3 windows overlooking the quayside. Everything clean, with well thought out design in bathroom etc. Highly recommended.

Excellent value for money and great location. Staff very friendly and pub downstairs is nice. Room is well equipped with a lovely bathroom and shower, and nice big bath towels. Room comfortable. A little warm as windows don't open.

The location in Appledore is fantastic. A loveley quiet unspoilt spot on the river Torridge and Taw estuary. Unfortunately the room was very cramped. The bathroom was very cramped too and badly ventilated. A bad drain smell. Quite a lot of money for this average standard. Disappointing.

Lovely spacious room with estuary view. Great position by the estuary, good food both lunch and dinner, good service. Reasonably priced. Def recommend.

Friendly staff, nice amenities, good food. Great atmosphere - enjoyed watching the tide come in and out, loved the baby seagulls outside our window; enjoyed the local brass band in the evening. Beds could have been better - tended to roll off the bed as higher in center

Lovely few days away, Hotel staff were very good, food was great, good selection of drinks. Only disappointment was the room got exceptionally hot and stuffy, even with a fan.

Fantastic room with lovely Estuary views

A lovely experience

It was lovely being across from the water. The dinner and breakfast were excellent and the serving staff were very friendly and capable.

Unfortunately the service at breakfast was slow Food was good but expensive. Need for blinds on street side windows on room 4

Fabulous welcome from the manager, he went above and beyond to give us the best experience. We had a very nice roon with a beautiful view of the estuary. We enjoyed a very nice evening meal in the restaurant and drinks from the well stocked bar. All staff were super friendly and happy to help. I totally recommend the Seagate!

Nice hotel/pub bar in a good location. Lovely views....my only gripe was the room was very cold on arrival.

Had a lovely visit to The Seagate on Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th and left Monday 10th. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was lovely. The only thing the bed was a bit hard. But I guess it’s a matter of preference. Food was fab. Had a wonderful weekend away.

A very nice stay in Appledore, one night of a longer trip. The staff is exceptionally professional, and nice. My room was clean and comfortable, and dinner in the Pub delicious!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble if they could help you in anyway they did. We have stayed there a few times and its just got better would not hesitate in highly recommending The Seagate..

Better than expected. Great accommodation but also a great pub. The food was excellent and cooked breakfasts set us up perfectly for the day. The staff could not have been more helpful and helped to make our weekend perfect.

We enjoyed our stay. We had a room in the Annex. It was a disabled access room which we do not need with a very small sink which was not fit for purpose for us. No mirror in the bedroom. Blinds unfortunately let the street lighting in. We were only there for a couple of nights if it had been longer we would have requested to move.

Great place, BUT the Rooms need remodelling. Our room had massive amount of water stains and a hole (gòod size) in one of the walls.

Such a lovely cosy stay. Staff all very friendly and happy to help with anything. The room was immaculate. Lovely local touches to the room. We did have a family room for a couple well worth it, And lovely view over the water.

Delicious food, helpful and polite staff, and clean, comfortable, spacious rooms.

The downstairs of the pub was lovely and had a great range of food and had a lovely feel, had really high hopes for our stay. Some of the staff were great and very welcoming, but did have to wait a while to be checked in and out as some of the staff were busy messing around behind the bar rather than serving us and other customers. Room provided was not like any that were displayed on the listing photos which was really disappointing. It’s was a lot lower on the scale of modern or done up but there were still some nice features about the place. The room was covered in ‘fixes’ that were done poorly and not fried properly, and there was a lot of damp in the room, showing drip marks and wet patches on the walls and giving off a slightly musky smell. There was mold in the bathroom too and the plumbing for toilet and bath was quite poor as didn’t drain, which was a shame as apart from the above it looked really lovely. The bathroom was well stocked with good toiletries which was appreciated. Quite chilly in the evening as the windows didn’t close properly and the electric heater in the room was broken. The bed was not too bad, it was presented nicely but was rather uncomfortable and there were hairs in the bed when we first checked in. There were hairs in the bedding when we first checked in too. Some nice aspects of the place but was a shame there were so many smaller things that made it not the best stay.
