A realy special place to stay, memorable for all the right reasons

The wonderful balcony overlooking the water was a real bonus and very appreciated. The breakfasts were outstanding as were the staff - very helpful and supportive including carrying our bags to our room

Fantastic service, great location with stunning sea views and would score 10/10 overall.

Location opposite sea was superb, staff were excellent and welcome was above and beyond expectations. The manager came out to car park to welcome us and arranged tea and biscuits on the stunning terrace with beautiful views without us even asking. Superb experience start to end and we will definitely return. We've stayed at some top 4-5* hotels around the world and the service at The Commodore Hotel was up there with the best! 10/10 for the hotel overall!

Room lighting (6/10) could have been a tad better and the double bed could have been bigger (but was immaculate and ver comfortable) and breakfast buffet was a bit limited but overall room was great and breakfast overall was still 8-9/10. Service was great and view of the sea was beautiful too. Overall still very happy.

Excellent location. Easy parking. Lovely views from our room and main areas of the hotel. Very clean and comfortable.

Most enjoyable stay, just a shame the weather wasn’t better.

The breakfast was excellent, as was the location. A number of good pubs and eateries within walking distance. Views from the restaurant across the estuary is stunning. Staff very friendly and helpful.

We didn’t ask but unsure of what options were available for eating lunch or dinner at the hotel.

Very good in sonme areas but appalling in others. A hotel is a commercial venture.

The breakfasts were very good. Excellent selection of food served beautifully.

The staFF appear to have had no training in dealing with hidden disabilities. I have terminal cancer with weeks rather than months to live. On good days I show no sign of the disease other than that I suufer brain fog _ ie I get things wrong in my head and can appear aggressive. I do not like to give in to it so when well I walk as normally as possible. #On my last day at the hotel I was feeling very unwell and reacted inappropriately to one of the manager's and I am sorry to say that he took umbrage. I would have apologised but I also lose great chunks of time in my head and got back too late to apologise and explain to him what my problems were. I had asked him to open the flood gate at the bottom of the garden. This gate is in a crucial position for disabled people as cuts off a signicant amout of walking into the shopping area and the ferry to Appledore. I was told that it could not be opened as it was the role of the EVA to do this. Technically that is correct BUT (I know this because my partner and I were founder members of Langport and Area Flood- group) are supported by EVA and the local rivers authority. Like Instow we are river which ends up in the sea - The River Parrett. We have all sorts of activity on the Parrett including a solar powered Ferry up and down the river, kayaking, paddle-boarding, wild swimming etc. The similarities are vaST. The flood group are there to be the eyes and the ears on the ground. We check for blockages and problems, report anything that needs dealing with by other authorities etc. We receive lots of training on how to deal with issues and we have people at each flood gate to open and close it as the conditions predict. It is a joint venture from which we all benefit.m If instow does not have a group I would be very surprised but it is quite easy to set up and should be a priority for the hotel to do this. Again I apologise fully to the person i offended.

Excellent location with good old fashion hospitality.

Great location for exploring North Devon, ample parking. Good old fashioned hospitality-rare to find these days. Breakfast was excellent. Good shower. Chairs provided to sit on private balcony.

Beautiful views and spot to enjoy!

Beautiful sea view room with balcony. Really lovely staycation night away for my daughter and I. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. Room and restaurant were impeccably clean. Such a lovely spot in our beautiful North Devon. Perfect 👍 thank you so much!

Great hotel in a beautiful North Devon location.

The Commodore is beautifully situated, overlooking the River Torridge and facing Appledore. Instow has a beautiful beach. The room was comfortable with a superb balcony with sea view. Breakfast and evening meals are exceptionally good.

A lovely family run hotel with excellent staff, good food, good views, comfortable room.

The position of the hotel overlooking the estuary of the river giving easy access to the beach. The public rooms are open and light with good views. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful. Our room was very comfortable and had a table and chairs.
