The Commodore Hotel

The staff are amazing, the location is unbelievable and we have a balcony overlooking the beach. The sunset was sublime.

I haven't found anything...that's a first!

Friendly staff. Clean and nicely presented decor. Spacious dining room and lounge.

Room a bit on the small side and shower over bath.

The staff Were all super friendly and helpful, especially Gary. The hotel is spotless, and the decor very tasteful.

The rooms were not very soundproof.

The breakfasts were very good. Excellent selection of food served beautifully.

The staFF appear to have had no training in dealing with hidden disabilities. I have terminal cancer with weeks rather than months to live. On good days I show no sign of the disease other than that I suufer brain fog _ ie I get things wrong in my head and can appear aggressive. I do not like to give in to it so when well I walk as normally as possible. #On my last day at the hotel I was feeling very unwell and reacted inappropriately to one of the manager's and I am sorry to say that he took umbrage. I would have apologised but I also lose great chunks of time in my head and got back too late to apologise and explain to him what my problems were. I had asked him to open the flood gate at the bottom of the garden. This gate is in a crucial position for disabled people as cuts off a signicant amout of walking into the shopping area and the ferry to Appledore. I was told that it could not be opened as it was the role of the EVA to do this. Technically that is correct BUT (I know this because my partner and I were founder members of Langport and Area Flood- group) are supported by EVA and the local rivers authority. Like Instow we are river which ends up in the sea - The River Parrett. We have all sorts of activity on the Parrett including a solar powered Ferry up and down the river, kayaking, paddle-boarding, wild swimming etc. The similarities are vaST. The flood group are there to be the eyes and the ears on the ground. We check for blockages and problems, report anything that needs dealing with by other authorities etc. We receive lots of training on how to deal with issues and we have people at each flood gate to open and close it as the conditions predict. It is a joint venture from which we all benefit.m If instow does not have a group I would be very surprised but it is quite easy to set up and should be a priority for the hotel to do this. Again I apologise fully to the person i offended.
