Wasn’t to happy to find out that the pool was closed as well as the restaurant was under renovations. Nothing on the website stating this. Main reason I booked was of those 2 reasons.

The cleanliness was not up to par. the sink room, had shaving bits, tooth paste spatter on the mirror, a used hand towel by the sink, the garbage from the previous guests. the shower and toilet room, the toilet had defecate streak on the bottom, the shower glass had soap spatter still, the floor wasn;t swept as there were some hair balls from previous stays. the bed had long hairs on the duvet still. honestly i feel like it was just an off day for that cleaner and supervisor. Maybe they intended to come back and finish but forgot to? I voiced these with the night auditor, cause I had checked in at 4, dropped my stuff off and met some friends with evening activities and actually got to my room at 12:15am. I've been on both sides so I wasn't expecting much of anything and since the night auditors are only there for the night audit. I would come back as it still felt clean aside from those listed above. the location is great walking distance to restaurants, pubs, venues and shops etc. I will make sure to inspect my room right away before I do anything that way maybe can move rooms or have housekeeping finish the clean.

Room was overall pretty clean. The pool is closed permanently and we had not been told or advised. Our room was also quite hot (24-25degrees) and because they had shut the AC for the year we were not able to control the temperature.

The hotel was just fine. Clean, nice staff, etc. however, the heat in our room was unsettling as it warmed to 30 degrees and we could not lower the setting to be cooler. That is too hot.

The front desk was not pleasant to speak with. They were very passive aggressive, and short with their responses. It’s like they didn’t want to talk to you, but was forced to. We stayed for a week, and it was like this every time. The housekeepers, and staff outside of the front desk workers were very kind though.

The layout of the hotel is so strange, I thought I stayed at a maze. So many homeless people in that area, I don't feel safe in the garage and wandering around the hotel.

This was probably on level par with what I was expecting from a holiday inn in terms of value for money, location and amenities. Staff were helpful at check-in and were also accommodating in terms of my request to move to another room from my original room allocation (no faults with the room, but just a personal preference), however I do feel that a smile or a simple hello would go a long way to making guests feel welcomed. The room was clean and comfortable, however one negative (hence why not given 5*) is the noise level. The room is poorly insulated and the fridge would randomly start making noise… I eventually got used to it. Handy tip, travel with ear plugs. The location of the hotel is ideal with walking distance to bars, restaurants and transport links. I can’t comment on the on-site restaurant as I preferred to visit the nearby bars and restaurants, which are abundant in downtown Vancouver. Don’t let the surrounding area put you off. I felt safe in the area and the hotel location is ideal for anyone new to the city. If I had the choice, I would stay again here in the future especially based on the location and price.

Cancelled on us last minute for no reason and basically did not help us at all🙂 thankfully fairmont was available and they were awesome and definitely deserve our hard earned money unlike the holiday inn which was nasty. Never stay here, staff are extremely rude as well.

Overall, we had a good experience with the property. However, our check-in was very disappointing. We arrived early(noon) and did not expect our rooms to be ready. The hotel graciously held our luggage and gave us a recommendation for lunch. We we returned at 2, we checked to see if our rooms were ready. They were not and we chose to wait in the lobby with several others while the staff readied rooms. Around 2:30 a line began forming to check-in so we joined the cue. Once we reached the front of the line we we were told one of our 2 rooms was ready and we could go to that room and wait and they would call us in about a half hour for the other room. After waiting for an hour, my husband returned to the front desk and was told our room was not ready still. This was disparaging because he personally witnessed several others receiving room keys. When he told the attendant we were supposed to have been called, he looked on the computer and then got the front desk manager. She then blamed the others working the desk for not calling and had him wait another few minutes. After waiting almost 2 hours beyond when we were told we would have a room, she finally gave him a room key. We recognize they were busy, but clearly our reservation and room got lost in the shuffle.

Pros- We were here for personal pleasure, it was super quiet, the beds were like clouds with how absolutely comfortable they were, the staff were very polite and helpful with directions as this was our first travel to Vancouver by ourselves. Very convenient location with convenience stores, restaurants and fast food all within 5 minute walks, the CF pacific mall within 10 minutes. The only cons we experienced was the wifi and the tv, we didn’t necessarily need it as we were out almost all day every day during our stay but using it for bed, our tv would static and black out in repetitive ways. As per the wifi there’s a cast option that will connect you through to your room number wifi, this connection was extraordinarily poor.

Access from lobby to rooms is not convenient need to go through multiple elevators. Given the price paid, surrounding area is not safe, can see the dumpsters and graffiti from the room windows. Hallways dark and don't feel safe to walk in. Hotel receptionists are not very friendly.

This place was exceptional. Super comfy beds and pillows. Pool and fitness rioms were a plus. And they have an outdoor patio upstairs for lounging. Staff were very friendly and I saw one guest super grateful because a staff had found his wallet outside and turned it in to the manager. Granville street is surely shady but good food to be found there.
