1stop to Shibuya station Japanese traditional house

This was a nice place to stay in a mellower neighborhood but pretty convenient to the train station to get around to other areas, and walkable to many places as well. The area was really sweet, love the narrow streets/alleys.

It was difficult to find outlets next to each bed in the communal bed room, so that was challenging.

Very nice place in a quiet neighbourhood

Everything was fine

The location was interesting, in the Hiro-o district, fairly central, quiet, affluent and not that far from two metro stations. The owner explains very well in a video how to get to the house - it's not so complicated as it at first seems. Lots of cafés and eateries in the neighbourhood. It was nice having your own self-contained little house, albeit basic. A pleasant change from American-style hotels. The beds were nice and firm and surprisingly comfortable. The hot water and shower worked well. The photos advertising the property are correct and the joining instructions are excellent.

Firstly, the front-door lock. Only the upper one works, plus it is not that easy to open; you eventually get the hang of it, but I do feel that if you are letting a property, you have a duty to make the outside lock function properly and without difficulty. This is not the first time that I have encountered this problem. Not pleasant when you arrive in the dark. Secondly, on the occasion we were there at least, although there was an electric kettle, a microwave etc, there was not a single cup or glass. The place is entirely empty. Thirdly, all the towels appeared to be smallish; no bath-towel size. Fourthly, the upstairs bedroom smelled rather pungently of tatami matting and we couldn't work out how to open the windows to ventilate the room. In conclusion, bear in mind that this accommodation is acceptable but really basic, minimalist and spartan. This is off-set by the economical rate charged. It suited our purposes because we were out the entire day and just came back to sleep and wash, but this may not be the case of other travellers. The property could sleep a maximum of six (two double beds and two singles), but all in the same room; at six, it would be a very tight fit. Might be suitable for a family with two kids. The owner has clearly had unfortunate experiences with other tenants, judging by the draconian strictures for untidiness, disorderliness and noise, all of which are subject to very heavy fines. So beware!
