Family Nest Resort & Villas

Clean and comfortable but studio was small.

We were disappointed with several aspects of our stay, especially as this is a family-focused resort. On our first day, the restaurant had no orange juice or apple juice available. The next day, we couldn’t get pool towels because the laundry hadn’t arrived, so we used our bath towels. That evening, we were told there were no clean bath towels either for the same reason. After complaining to reception, fresh towels eventually appeared, but only after I had already paid for a Grab to bring towels from another villa. On our third day, we ordered pizza and were told they had run out of that as well. I understand that unexpected issues can happen, but during peak season a family resort should have backup plans in place. Running out of basic menu items and being unable to provide clean towels isn’t the level of service I expected.

Phenomenal stay for families! My small children (2 and 4 years old) enjoyed every element of the shared and private spaces. We spent many happy hours in the treehouse playground and on the pool-side playground. It was lovely connecting with so many other families with children of all ages. We went to Pangolin twice during our seven day stay, I think my children could have gone everyday. The villas are perfect, we used the free bed bumpers and crib and our family was comfortable. Staff are lovely and food at Ants Pants restaurant was great, we’ll be back to Family Nest for sure!

Spacious, clean, beautiful grounds with large infinity pool. Quiet, comfortable beds and clean private pool at villa. Nice staff.

Location is far from everything and the road to get there is full of potholes. No mini bar with basic items. Restaurant next door that’s connected to hotel had very “untypical” menu choices.

The villa was very aesthetically pleasing. It was well equipped especially having a washing machine, clothes airer and multiple bathrooms. We were kindly upgraded from a 2 bed villa to a 3 bed which we were very grateful for. Staff were nice.

We have been to Bali 20+ times and this was our third trip with kids. We have never been sick in Bali however both kids became incredibly unwell within 24 hours of arriving at family nest. The property ran out of towels and our 2 year old had vomited 30+ times and were given some wet floor mats for him. Whether the sickness was from the pool or the food from Sando or ants pants we are unsure. We were at family nest for 6 days and kids and my husband were sick for 5 of them. Considering the property is marketed for families with young children it’s surprising how many unsafe elements there are. The first is no pool fences in the villas. There isn’t even a lock or latch up high on the doors to keep children from entering the pool area. The sunken lounge is actually quite dangerous, solid concrete which becomes slippery with the rug and moveable couch cushions. The large communal pool area had so many areas where children could seriously injure themselves (or worse). The treehouse playground is the most dangerous playground we have ever seen. High, unsafe areas that drop straight onto concrete/rock. The three bed villa worked well for us as we brought a grandparent. However if you needed the third bedroom for children it wouldn’t work as the only entrance to the third bedroom is via the outdoor pool area. The bedding was dirty/stained and the towels were also stained and lots had holes. Some of the pillows couldn’t even be described as pillows. Essentially bundles of fluff shoved in oversized pillowcases. The villa pool was murky by day 2. The kids club is very expensive even with the “discount” received for staying at family nest. Overall there is a lot to be improved on.
