The bed was really comfortable and the location of the property was convenient for the town centre.
The lighting in the room was poor, only 1 bedside lamp and 1 small light for the whole room. No radiator but there was a oil heater - which for heating was sufficient whilst it was not freezing temperatures but not useful for drying towels. The radiator in the bathroom wasn't on. No menu's to peruse at breakfast, 1 staff person to explain what was available and wasn't present as they were tooing and frowing with orders.

Room was large, comfortable, warm and extremely clean, although a bit short on storage. Staff were attentive and friendly. Dinner and breakfast were really good during a three day stay, and served quickly. I was lucky enough to grab one of the free parking spaces outside the hotel, but these shouldn't be relied on. Location was brilliant - handy for the Cathedral and town centre. My partner has mobility issues, but managed well.
The building is impressive but reflects a somewhat decaying grandeur, which is a bit depressing on entry. It's obviously in need of continuing investment!

The staff were all very welcoming and willing to take extra steps to make our visit enjoyable.
The hotel is obviously working on its heating system and had tried hard to address this with portable radiators but by the windows in the dining room was cold.

Location was good, 5 free car parking spaces on a first come first serve basis, pretty building with character. Comfy beds.
Safe broken, smell from drains in bathroom

Love the location, close to work.
The shower. I’ve stayed here three times now and had the same room each time. The shower is awful.

Location was excellent. Very easy check in/out
The room was average really, an extension socket was tucked under the desk to run a lamp as the lighting wasnt great, and the room had a plug in radiator as heating, weird.

Not a lot - feel very misled. There was no parking, not easy to get to, the hotel wasn't clean. Room and bathroom were old and need updating.
Don't go by the pictures! Very tired and unclean hotel. Not impressive at all, feel very misled.
Please trust me when I say, don't stay here.

Location is good. Beds were good. Cleanliness was good.
15 min wait for our room (we arrived well after the check-in time). Shown to a tiny, icy cold, broom-cupboard of a room. This was just the first of a litany of problems; no internet (never resolved, I even knew what the problem was), no plug for the bath (never provided), no staff in the breakfast room (had to go to reception and summon someone).
Staff were invariably unable to resolve problems, seemed a bit like nobody there had ever worked in a hotel before.
There are much better options in the vicinity - I'd give this a very wide berth

The maintenance of the history of a beautiful building, its perfect central location and friendliness & helpfulness of staff
A space for a fridge that could have been utilised for this

Its location and old world charm
It was a shame the jacuzzi wasn’t working

Wonderful building, delightfully quirky, good breakfast, cathedral quarter location, close to a wonderful Greek restaurant and a great African one, also Pizza and pubs. Art Gallery and Museum on the doorstep. Managed to park outside, but there is plenty of parking on the street and at the multi-storey.
Loved it all!

The hotel is in a good location, and it had recently been refurbished.
The property has been recently been refurbish but maintenance is little to non existent, the room was dirty and bathroom had a stale water must. The tiles on the floor in the bathroom were not clean and the grouts were brown not sure if it was mould or just dirt.
The bed was very hard, and probably would have sleep on the floor if it was not so dirty and carpet stained.
Three times in the night an extractor fan noise woke me up and lasted about an hour.
I left a complaint with the front desk but no one from the hotel ever contacted me.

Good location, well priced
Small rooms, easily hear other people in rooms even at low volume, found room unlocked after locking room multiple times during stay.

Central location
Noise insulation between adjoining rooms, noise from adjoining room sounded as though they were actually in the same room.

Good location. Staff were very friendly & available to help.
The room was quite tired looking - furniture scuffed etc. No heating.. a portable heater was available. The room lighting was poor - dressing table had no light so it was impossible to sit & get ready.
Fine for what we needed in a room but nothing glamorous.
No fruit at breakfast

Very friendly staff. Room was comfy. Breakfast was excellent with fresh coffee on tap.
Very limited on site parking but they do provide a discount on the car park which is at the top of the street.

Location was good, about 10mins walk to Valliant live, bus station and Derbion shopping centre. The bed was comfortable.
This hotel needs a complete refurb, it does have potential but seriously dated and run down. The reception area has character but the corridors and rooms were seriously outdated. The staff at reception were nice, and the breakfast was good enough, but we had to give a bad rating as the first room we were given appeared to have the previous occupiers used sheets still on the bed. The sheets/duvet covers had many small hairs and several long strands when we pulled back the duvet. Obviously we were not going to stay there , the Receptionist was nice and has no hesitation in moving us. The next room seemed to have clean sheets this time but such a dingy room. Curtains wouldn't close properly, cracks/built in dirt on walls /skirting boards and the tiny bathroom was piping hot. Only we paid on arrival, I would have walked a further 10mins up the road and paid the extra £20 to stay in Leonardos.

Free parking available outside hotel only 5 spaces though but you do get discount for car park over the road which is a secure car park.
Staff friendly and helpful
Ground floor room spacious.
They struggled to find my booking.com booking upon arrival. Although police enough in check in.
The bathroom sink had a bad leak, which over time has caused the floor to swell, which made the door very difficult to open and close without force.
Wardrobe had seen better days. And the door wouldn't stay open
Fire door to bedroom - automatic door closing bracket wasn't even attached to the door frame. So, it's not fire compliant.
The bar closed at 9pm on a Friday!!
Breakfast was ok, nothing special , food was ok sadly nothing special. Juices displayed in plastic tubs with foil lids and coffee at a station,
We have stayed here before, and had a lovely stay so this why we rebooked. I appreciate that they may be new owners. However, attention to detail on some things would have helped, and they could have been more attentive at breakfast.
The hotel needs some investments for sure to bring it up to better standards, Old building, yes, but not an excuse to let it start to appear it's falling apart slowly.

Staff. Breakfast
Room 7 problems... curtains broken letting light in, bathroom musty smelly as fan ventilator not working, heating/air con broken so had to use inadequate electric heater, old toothbrush left behind, pillows soft and too small

Location of the hotel is fantastic. The building is fantastically historical with period features throughout and has some quirky bits and pieces. The bed is ridiculously comfortable and gives an amazing night's sleep.
Can't quite put my finger on it. Just feels to be missing something that goes with the star rating.of the hotel. Reception was unmanned upon arrival, when returning later that evening (before 10pm) the hotel was locked and we had to call a mobile to be let in. Good job I took it with me as almost left it in the room. Wouldn't really describe the room as King, although that could be down to the L shape of the room due to the historical nature.

The young man on reception made our visit a pleasure he was so helpful and even came outside to show us where best to park
The property is quite grand. The only Moab I had was that the air conditioning in our room didn’t work very well. It kept going off the red light was flicking then a buzzing alarm sound started so I just gave up and turned it off

Authentic building and great Sri Lankan staffs - helpful and friendly. Parking house close by.
