Fantastic stay

Having stayed before a few times I really do love it there the staff especially at breakfast were very polite and friendly great customer service the man on reception was especially helpful when my key didn’t work so was a very lovely stay

Nice hotel but the room I had was below my expectations

The reception area was impressive and the warm welcome at check in was great, breakfast was really nice and so were the staff who worked that shift

The room was in need of some TLC a complete contrast to what you see in public areas. My bathroom had a strong musty smell and the bed was sunken in the middle although it was comfortable. There was water damage to the desk and a large chip on the bedside table. I was a little disappointed with my room.

Exceptional hotel! Highly recommended!

I loved the location, the hotel, bar, executive room and the food! Fantastic location in Derby town centre. The staff here were helpful, kind and polite! I loved how friendly they were and their professionalism was spectacular! Exceptional! I really enjoyed the delicious bar food during my stay! The breakfast was perfect too! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Thank you!

The heating in the room kept switching back to air conditioning (cooling) and it got very cold quickly during my stay as the weather was bitter cold the weekend I stayed.

Fantastic place to stay in Derby

Good place to stay for shopping and Vaillant (shhh) Staff friendly and approachable, 3rd stay and preferred choice. Always a warm welcome even arriving soaking wet.car park about 3-5 min walk depending on luggage

Need bigger signs to alert guests not to set the fire alarms off but that’s being picky after ‘evacuating’ (and that means everyone!) At 1am but the staff managed the ‘moaners’ very well! Otherwise nothing!

liked the fact you had to use your room key to use the lift from the ground floor. The reception desk staff were lovely and friendly The breakfast team very accomodating. Great choice for breakfast.

Disappointing overall but saved by a lovely member of staff.

We like the location & availability of car parking on site. A member of staff not normally on reception checked us out on the morning of 3rd November & she was delightful. Chatty, smiley & friendly. As she was so nice, I decided not to mention the issues we'd had & then she surprised us by saying she'd covered the car parking fees for us, which redeemed the situation somewhat. A very kind gesture. Sadly I forgot to ask her name.

We booked a standard double room but were allocated an accessible room without being asked if that was okay or having it explained upon checking in. We unpacked when we got to the room & only discovered the bathroom was accessible after unpacking. We did query why we were given an accessible room at reception & were told it was busy & they allocated what was available. We had arrived just after 3pm, which is the regular check-in time, so I feel being unprepared points to disorganisation at the hotel. The explanation we were given was unsatisfactory & your staff member failed to ask if everything was all right or to offer any help. It only became clear when using the bathroom how awkward it was for us as two able-bodied males: we had to crouch under the shower to wet our heads as the shower head & height pole were set at the highest bar which was still shoulder height for us. We had to bend at the sink which was probably set low for wheelchair users, but it was very uncomfortable to bend like that to wet shave. There was also no hot water at the sink & the glass shelf over it meant I was unable to sluice my face. All in all a most unsatisfactory experience. Plus, the body wash was nearly empty,so it was a good job we had our own. There was just 2 tea bags in the complimentary refreshments tray, so because we had a cup of tea after unpacking (this is when we realised it was a disabled-friendly room) we had no cuppa first thing the following morning. The bed was uncomfortable as we kept rolling into the middle! One of the light switches on the desk lamp was difficult to set as it switched on but flicked off.

Very strange to see a sock on my window sill especially as they don't unlock to open . The air conditioning controller is very bright when lit up and the room is dark and kept me awake . The television remote control is very confusing to use

Truthfully, I didn’t want to leave.

The room was so clean and made up beautifully. The shower is to die for. The breakfast was wonderful. So many options to choose from. There was even a separate toaster, away from all baked goods, for those who are gluten intolerant. All of the Staff were exceptionally helpful. From a cleaner who held my door open for me, to the breakfast cleaning staff.

There was only 1 tiny niggle and that was the coffee sachets. I only had 1 that was not decaffeinated.

We used it for a festival weekend, the rooms were comfortable and the staff were really nice.

The rooms were really comfortable and our daughters room was selected for the surprise gift. The staff were friendly, helpful and the breakfasts were great.

Limited parking was my only disappointment.

Good location and value for money

Stayed for a weekend with a friend. The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and a lovely view of the town centre. Location was great—just a short walk to everything. A buffet breakfast was included and had everything we liked. Overall, good value for money and a really nice stay.

Would stay again as I have years ago when I visited Derbyshire.

Staff were nice and friendly. Only gripe was there was no heating working in the room and had to ask for an extra quilt 5 hours later, I still had to ask for it after I’d been out and then one was came and the room was very cold - so we was brought a heater to the room then.

Good location. Close to town centre and restaurants and bars. Rooms and bar areas in the hotel were super clean and staff were very friendly and helpful.

The underground car park was full and we were directed to a nearby car park. The hotel validated the car park ticket to obtain a discount. The public car park was cheaper than the hotel which was a bit odd....

The only thing I would change would be to ask the guests to be more considerate towards others in that slamming doors wakes others up at night and in the morning. Or perhaps the hotel could change the doors to make them softer to close thereby ensuring a good night sleep for all.

Fantastic stay - staff are a dream!

The staff were amazing - especially Merrick - who went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay possible. She arranged a late check out for us (absolute life saver on a hangover!), advised us on parking and taxi's and gave us lots of tips on Derby, which allowed us to relax and enjoy my friends wedding in style. The rooms were spacious, beds very comfortable, shower pressure amazing and our room even had iron and ironing board etc for last minute outfit touch ups. The cleaning staff were lovely also, very friendly and our room was spotless.

Honestly, nothing, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Value for money but don’t expect too much

It was a really good value. And conveniently located. Parking was very small and full so we had to park at the nearby public garage. That was even better because it was much cheaper.

It’s a bit tired place. Fairly old hotel that could benefit from some refurbishment. There are not fridges in rooms. Bathroom has a shower curtain which I find a bit outdated.

A great modern chain , I have stayed at 6 others. Smart bar and informal dining. Very friendly staff and a good location. Chapel Street Car Park ( 5 mins away ) was clean secure and reasonable priced.
