I stayed at Polonnaruwa Sunshine Guest House and had an excellent experience. They have two guest houses close to each other at the same price — both are clean, comfortable, and peaceful. The location is ideal, very close to the ancient ruins, Parakrama Samudraya lake, temples, and restaurants. The area feels very safe, and the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They helped me plan my city tour and arranged a safari with their own jeep. Bicycles, tuk-tuks, and cars are also available for rent. The next day, I hired their car to travel to Kandy — the driver was very friendly and genuine, making the journey really pleasant. Overall, a wonderful stay and highly recommended for anyone visiting Polonnaruwa!

The location is perfect. Its near the main road and near any shops or restaurants you'd want to go to. The museum and old city are also within walking distance. I'd recommend arranging a tuktuk tour through the host.
