Dilshan Guest

I had a fantastic stay at Dilshan Guest. The location is absolutely perfect—it's right in the center of town, making it an incredibly convenient base that is just a short distance from the archaeological museum and the main ancient ruins. The property itself is well-maintained; my room was clean, comfortable, and provided everything I needed for a relaxing stay. Renting a bicycle directly from them made exploring the ancient city incredibly easy and fun. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. The family running it is exceptionally warm, welcoming, and genuinely dedicated to making sure their guests have a great experience. For the cleanliness, prime location, and excellent hospitality, it offers unbeatable value for money. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Polonnaruwa!

Mainly the location, it was very close by.

The space inside the room was a little packed but manageable. The washroom was smaller

We stayed in February 2022. The location was walking distance to the lake and the main historical sites. The main highway and the buses were a two minute stroll. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The AC worked pretty well. The en-suite bathroom was a reasonable size and the shower was usable. If you are not expecting a luxury stay this is a perfectly adequate value for money location.

Understandably after 2 years of Covid whilst the room had been serviced it was tired and was in need of a deep clean to bring it back up to a reasonable standard. The slightly intense owner was very keen to push/sell trips and other tourist activities. The door to the room opened out onto the main reception/breakfast area which could have been noisy if the place had been busier but was quiet during our stay.
