Waterfront Houseboat

A modern ,well thought out boat .The experience of being on a boat and feeling safe within the marina . Close to shops , restaurants and spa . Wonderful service from Malusi who checked us in . Complimentary Bubbly and cheese and biscuits was a bonus . It was raining and cold so the electric blanket on the bed was a winner !

Nothing - even though it was raining it did not spoil the experience .

It was the coolest experience! Loved it! Will be staying here every time we’re in Cape Town! Thanks Malusi for being a great host!

Nothing that we could fault

Very clean and an exceptional experience

Its different! I saw this randomly from looking on Google Maps for accommodation. Thought I would give it a go for a single night as an experience and was really pleased. They only allow two persons to sleep onboard. To be fair this can be one adult in the small double, and one on the single bench. Not suitable for larger framed people. Its really nice to be at the harbourfront, very secure, you will be met close to the marina and provided with the keys and security passes. There is an allocated underground car parking space in a secure car park. There is a communal shower facility on the harbourside if you don't want to use the onboard shower. We had planned to take them up on sailing the boat out for a waterfront harbour cruise for 90 mins. However the wind on the day didn't allow for this type of "box on water" to go out, so we didn't. Instead we had a few drinks during the sunset. It was hot in mid-december. There is no air-con, there are fans. I was fortunate that it was windy in Cape Town so there was a cool breeze after the sun had gone down. They provided a welcome kit which included a small sparkling wine, cheese, biscuits etc which was a lovely touch. I would do it again, maybe more in the cooler months for sure. I just don't think I would stay more than 2-3 nights as I do prefer a hotel. I stayed one night and then moved onto a local hotel as planned. It was a nice experience which I enjoyed.

Noisy neighbours, you can have parties going on at other boats and the boat moored up next to the houseboat at the time had been entertaining people most of the day, but as the night went on the louder they got. Bring ear plugs. Could be a bit of a sweat box in the heat if there is no sea breeze. It was a little bumpy when the wind kicked up. so if you get sea sick, you may get motion sickness if the weather is persistent. Overall it was a really pleasant stay.
