Hotel Lake Park

Nice staff and great lication.

No hit water, lots if crows in trees made a reak ness and were very loud.

I loved the location. Right on the lake. We were close to the ancient city and hired bikes and rode there from the hotel, which was really fun. The hotel staff were amazing and really helped me organise my stay. We booked a few trips through them including the boat safari, which was amazing as we saw an elephant and local fishermen, as well as the bikes and a safari to Kaudulla NP with Damith where we saw over a hundred elephants and lots of baby elephants. The hotel also booked our transport to and from the hotel which was very reasonably priced. The rooms were large and clean. We loved all the mongooses around the hotel too. The pool was clean and very welcome.

There is a bit of construction going on which didn’t bother us too much and will be good when it’s finished. We didn’t love the crows. It’s not the hotel’s fault that there are so many but they are a bit creepy.

This is a small, family-owned hotel. It is reasonably close to the archaeological sites and faces Parakrama Samudra Lake. Initially, I was concerned because I had seen some reviewers complain about mosquitoes. However, during my stay, I did not experience any mosquito issues. I travelled in May. It is a great place if you want to wind down and enjoy some calm and tranquillity. The food was also good. At this price point, it offers good value, and you are unlikely to be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a more refined stay, this may not be the right place for you.

- Unfortunately, the property is a little run-down due to neglect by the previous management. However, the young lady who is the current owner mentioned that they are slowly working on improving it. - The room did not have a TV or a mini fridge. In a hot climate like Polonnaruwa, it would have been nice to have a mini fridge to keep drinks cool.
