Kyoto is very spread out so wherever you are, you are likely to have to travel here and there. It’s about an 850 m walk up very safe and pavemented road north of Kyoto main railway station. You can get a taxi for just under ¥1000 if you prefer. The number 50 bus goes past the machiya as well. Plenty of Ramen places around the station and a few by the accommodation. I thought the property was clean quite easy to find and thoroughly enjoyable to stay at. Washing machine facility brilliant.
Minor thing: there is no shower curtain. The holder for the showerhead is in a slightly awkward position (Japanese style). So those used to a Western style shower posture, you might find it slightly awkward.
