Sanahin Old&New

Great location in front of the monastery. Beautiful furnitures and interior. Hot shower and AC was amazing. The most impressive thing was the super kind host! He is a professional of hospitality. I was very helped by his attitude with smile, which made me feel very welcomed, since I arrived at this place. He helped to book a mini bus to Tbilisi and taxi to Alaverdi too. It was very smooth because he always treat everything asap. Highly recommended!

Ich hatte mich von den Bewertungen der Unterkunft leiten lassen und wurde nicht enttäuscht: Das Guesthouse befindet sich direkt gegenüber des Klosters Sanahin, besser geht es nicht. Der "Hausherr" Vrezh ist ein Ausbund von Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft, für Fragen und Wünsche jederzeit über WhatsApp erreichbar. Im Dorf gibt es kein Restaurant, also hat die Familie für mich gekocht - gut und reichlich, wie man sich vorstellen kann. Vrezh hat auch für mich ein Taxi nach Gjumri besorgt, mit einem wunderbaren Fahrer.

Vrezh was incredibly kind and helpful, arranging all our transport for us and responsive to messages at all hours of the day! He gave us suggestions for our day trip and small tips for a more comfortable time in Sanahin and Alaverdi The apartment was spacious and comfortable, with a small outdoor space to enjoy our morning coffee with an amazing view of the mountains. He also provided a small kettle and selection of teas and coffees. The guest house is also literally a 2minute walk from the Sanahin Monestary, one of the most incredible and ancient of its kind that we had ever seen. Alaverdi itself is an interesting town to explore, with Soviet history on every corner and amazing views.

Sanahin is more remote than we expected and the services are scarce. Finding a meal requires a 15 minute walk to the nearby town centre, where there is only 1 or 2 restaurants - otherwise it's a 15 minute taxi down to Alaverdi. However Vrezh was always ready to arrange taxis for us whenever we needed. Tip: plan ahead for all meals and coffees.
