HFS McDonald Road in Edinburgh

I enjoyed my stay here. The accommodation was clean, quiet, and offered great value for the price. The staff were always responsive, friendly, and happy to help whenever needed. Easy check-in and check-out. The location is another big plus. It’s close to everything, with plenty of shops, pubs, cafés, and restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again. ⭐️

- First of all very good location. It is not too far from town, a walkable distance, with bus & tram stations nearby. - Super easy to get the key and finish check-in/check-out. The instructions I received after booking, before check-in and check-out were very informative, clear and straightforward. Stress-free experience. - Fab management team and nice customer services. - There is a Co-op (shop) in front of the property. Super convenient! - Good value for money. A good option for students travelling with a budget.

There are only 2 things I would like to raise: - Bedding could be better. I felt fine with the mattress, however, I didn't like the sheet, duvet cover and pillows. The linen was a bit rough and the pillows are very soft. Personally, I am a bit selective with bedding. I could bear it since I only had a very short stay in Edi (3 nights). However if you don't mind, I would say this property is perfect. - There is no hand wash in the bathroom. I found it a bit inconvenient. The Co-op shop downstairs could somehow compensate (easy to buy things, such as hand wash and tissue. I mean facial tissue here. There was toilet tissue in the bathroom) but it was a bit awkward to buy hand wash for 3-night stay (luckily I had portable hand gel sanitizer with me..)

The room was decent.

When I booked it, I didn’t realise it was a student hotel rented to non students (like me) in July-August. I wouldn’t have booked it if I had realised it earlier. The room was poorly cleaned and one could hear everything going on outside. Upon arrival the towels had hair stuck on it that did not belong to me.
