Aqua Cruise Lan Ha Bay

The boat was lovely and the staff were fantastic Miss Sofie was amazing! She was so nice and helpful. A wonderful asset to the cruise. The food was beautiful and they went out of their way to make sure I had vegetarian dishes for every meal.

The only downside for us is that we are in our late 50s and all other passengers appeared to be under 35 and the activities on the boat were more geared to a younger crowd, like the sunset party which was music and drinking.

We were informed around 24 hours before departure that the boat we had originally booked was no longer available due to the government requiring it, and we were moved to a different boat. Honestly, we had absolutely no complaints about the change as we were upgraded to a beautiful boat and a much better room! Check-in and transfers were great, the boat was beautiful and our room was lovely. The first day’s trip and activities were also really enjoyable and we had no complaints at all. Brunch on the second day was very good and overall the staff were friendly and clearly wanted guests to be happy.

Breakfast was quite lacking and dinner was far too fussy for us. A fully served five-course dinner every evening is simply too much food. There also seemed to be two different menus being served depending on whether guests were staying one or two nights, which became quite confusing. When we explained that we didn’t want all five courses, the staff really struggled to understand and continued fussing, which unfortunately caused a bit of an unnecessary commotion. Our biggest concern, however, was the accident during our second day’s trip. Our bus crashed after the driver was travelling too fast on extremely wet roads following very heavy rainfall. We completely understand that the bus and driver were not operated by the cruise company, however, we later discovered that our guide could not speak Vietnamese and was unable to communicate directly with the driver. Other guests had to translate. In an emergency situation like this, that is a serious concern and we feel much more needs to be done regarding procedures and communication when incidents happen. We were given $50 off our bar bill following the accident, which we appreciated, but five days later we are still black and blue and covered in bruises. This part of the experience definitely needs reviewing.

Staff were great, very attentive and enthusiastic. Room was comfortable and bathroom was large too. Activities were well communicated and organised. Tour guide was enthusiastic and informative and that was well organised. Views were very nice and the sundeck/hot tub was nice too.

It’s more like 1 day 1 night as you check in at midday the first day and have to check out at 9:30am the second day. Activities were very early and everyone seemed very tired the next day. The wifi was basically non existent, with netflix/tv not working either. The food was good but very small portions (1 tablespoon of mash) and not many snack options. Water was minimally provided or you had to pay for it. All drinks had to be paid for, even at dinner so not really full board as advertised. Transport was also not included in some bookings, despite it being included in others we spoke to. Probably best to book through a different platform to get the free transport option.
