11 The Strand in the heart of Rye

Despite the record breaking heatwave our stay at 11 The Strand was fairly comfortable helped we think by the window shutters. We slept well every night of our stay. We chose to use the bedroom at the back as there is quite a lot of road noise at the front side of the property which could be a problem with needing to have windows open all night.. The cottage is very close to Rye town centre so a very convenient base. We made good use of the outside space in the evenings as it was cool so very grateful for that! We arrived to a very generous welcome hamper which had unexpected extras including bacon, eggs, bread and a bottle of wine. The host, Jamie, emailed over very detailed check-in instructions a few days before making our arrival seamless.

The parking could be tricky. Luckily for us it wasn’t an issue as there was only 1 other car in the undercover parking area for the duration of our stay. But had the other two spaces been in use then it would have been a problem.

Location excellent.

Bed very soft and terribly uncomfortable for our taste. Parking space was a total pain as a large white van was in another space. Ended up Parking in car park across the road. Also parking area overgrown and full of rubbish ended up having to brush foliage out of the way as it got trapped in boot and doors. Not a quiet front bedroom very very noisy. Not a problem for us as used to living on a main road. Could be awful for others.

Clean, lots of space and all the things needed for a self catering stay.

Parking space is tricky to get a middle sized car in to.

The towels and sheets were very poor quality, the kitchen had very limited equipment no mixing bowls or proper sharp knives Very hot weather but no fans
