Set alongside a canal and housed in a former thermal power plant built in the 1930s, this home has wonderful views across Venice from its private balcony and from inside too. It’s an upside-down layout here with the living space above the bedrooms, capitalising on those vistas. This district allows you to get off the beaten track a little, yet it’s only a seven-minute walk to the transport hub of Piazzale Roma, while Cannaregio, with its variety of restaurants and bars, is a five-minute stroll, as is the Guglie area.
