We were only there for 1 night but it was a lovely stay in the short time we had there.

The owners of the property were very friendly & helpful & we had a lovely well cooked breakfast with an extra sausage for our dog.

Excellent comfortable stay with gracious hosts

Excellent accommodation we’ve stayed here once a year for the past ten years. Expertly cooked full English breakfast with alternative choices should you not wish to indulge. Comfortable beds with ample room space for your stay. Always very clean and nothing ever too much trouble. Will be visiting again next year.

Friendly & very comfortable topped off by a fantastic breakfast buffet + cooked breakfast if wanted!

It was all extremely well furnished and breakfast was amazing! We were all very pleased to see that there was a jug next to the kettle in the rooms to use to fetch water for the kettle from the bathroom tap - normally you're left trying to angle/squeeze a kettle under a tap in a tiny bathroom sink and this is the first time any of us have seen a jug left out for this purpose. A small thing but we applaud you for doing it!

Maybe add extra to the otherwise very helpful directions provided. We approached from the opposite direction and should have turned right before passing the red & white sign which was on our right. The current directions mention the Telephone Box (which for us was a few hundred yards past the red & white sign) and the directions given were to look on the left for the sign and then turn left - it was late and dark and we are 3 very geographically challenged females at the best of times

Excellent stay lovely weekend and we’ll be back next year

Love this place - been staying here for the past ten years each year! Have managed to booked and sleep in nearly all the rooms so can vouch for comfy beds and great views of the Devon countryside. Breakfast is always excellent with your choice of a full English or yoghurts and cereals to choose from,

Excellent place to stay

Robert & Nicki are very good hosts. Very Pleasant good stay. We made feel very welcome to a very clean house. The room was very clean well thought all around. The fridge two TVs on in the bedroom and one in the lounge area. The shower room is very spacious and very clean. The needs of the guests are very well thought and provided all around. The shower is so easy to use and is very good. Thank you for the very well done and boiled to perfection eggs Robert.

Perfect. Say no more.

I cannot rate my stay here highly enough. Robert and Nikki are the most friendly and welcoming hosts you are likely to meet. The property and location was tranquil, peaceful, well presented and away from the bustle of Barstaple. If you want shops on your doorstep forget it. If you want peace and quiet they have it in bundles, and amazing views. I found both Robert and Nikki very friendly and could easily spend hours chatting to either of them. Safe storage for my cycle was arranged and provided without question and these most perfect of hosts were very accomodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Stoke House b+b gets a full 10 out of 10 for me and is highly recommended. I was cycling the LeJog route but Stoke House would also make a great base for anyone wanting to explore Exmoor and the surrounding countryside. The directions to the property were absolutely spot on perfect.

The only thing I didn’t like was the steep climb up to the property from the main road out of Barnstaple after a long day of cycling.

Fabulous weekend

We had a perfect stay at Stoke House. Nicki and Robert were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The friendly ambience continued throughout our stay. Spacious, clean well-equipped rooms with lounge area. TVs in both the lounge and bedroom. Comfortable bed and clean towels each day. Tea making was provided in the room with so many choices of teas and coffee. Kettle with water filter. Fresh milk in the fridge, bottled water and biscuits were provided. Speedy WiFi. Great wet room with shower. Breakfast was fabulous, with various choices of cereals, fruit, juice and yoghurts as well as a full English breakfast. Choices of brown or white bread too. Breakfast set us up for the day, so well cooked and presented. Nicki and Robert were keen to help out with local information and had a wealth of local knowledge. We had an amazing stay and will return!

A great spot for a wedding in Stoke Rivers but a fab place to explore Exmoor in all directions

The breakfast was amazing. Very generous portions that set you up for the day. No lunch needed. Local maps and advice provided can recommend Woody way and Valley of the rocks. Wild sea swimming was a bit nippy. Everything catered for- Wi-Fi, shampoo and seperate conditioner a rarity these days. Complete towel change daily unbelievable customer service for a b and b.

Home away from home, so peaceful and perfect for our needs.

Breakfast was excellent best I think we have ever had and the service was perfect, especially as he was on his own, his wife was away. Very friendly and accommodating and very dog friendly. It was lovely to wake up to bird song and no traffic noise. Home away from home. Going back very soon!

Great breakfasts, everything you could wish for. Super clean and very practical room with tea and coffee making facilities (even hot choc, also bottled water and good biscuits). Comfortable bed, a writing desk, lots of cupboard space also in bathroom. Wonderful hosts!

Delightful B&B

Nicki met us as we arrived and showed us our room. Lovely room and bathroom with little outside seating area. Nicki and Rob were very friendly hosts and made sure we were well looked after. Tea tray was well stocked with different teas, coffees, and hot chocolate as well as biscuits and bottled water. Breakfast was exceptional, lovely fresh orange juice, plenty of toast. We went for the full English which was delicious. Before we left, Nicki helped us with places to visit locally. Would definitely book again if we are in the area.
