The property has a lovely garden and is perfectly located by the art market and there are cafes, shops and performances all around. A limited breakfast at 8am was included. The WiFi was surprisingly fast at 221mbps. There’s a yoga shala. The property is in a very walkable location. There is no noise in the area despite being in the center. They have a restaurant that opens at 8pm. There’s a kettle. Beautiful interior design. Clean bathroom and shower. We did not shower so I cannot speak about temperature. It was 554,400 IDR for one night. As of December 30, 2025. I would not pay more than that for this service.
Despite arriving with very heavy backpacks, we were escorted to our room without any offer of assistance, which made check-in unnecessarily uncomfortable as we had many steep steps to go down. In every property we’ve ever stayed at here in Bali, this would be considered a failure in basic check-in service. It would’ve been nice to be told you had to pay in cash through a message despite putting my credit card on file. We were not given our change, even though the bellboy did not help us with our bags. There was a broken patio chair that was not swapped out. The dehumidifier was a great idea, but between that and the a/c, it took me an hour to fall asleep because of the noise. We thought the water dispensers close to the rooms were for guest use. Only the following day in the daylight did I notice the dispenser was unplugged and that brown sludge water came from one of the nozzles. My partner was sick immediately after consuming it. We thought maybe we could check out later. It was moved from 11:30 to 12:00, which is hardly flexible. (As a comparison, when we stayed at another property during New Year’s Eve, the host let us check out 3 hours later because of the fireworks and disturbed sleep). In any case, after declining the invitation to extend our stay (absolutely not!), he reminded us sharply (again) that we had to leave at noon with no exceptions.

Location was perfect. Ticked far enough away from the street house but close enough to walk anywhere.
The tropical setting summed Ubud up perfectly.
Bit of a damp smell in Room 4. Evidence of moisture damage and blistering paint still present in the room.

The location, the staff when was available, the internal installations, the pool, lovely all
The moisture smell inside the bathroom was terrible. We had to put the dehumidifier inside the bathroom to breathe. The housekeeping staff just hosed the shower base and surroundings, but there were no signs of any cleaning liquid being used.

Fantastic location only a 5 minute walk to the Palace and main Road. Stunning traditional Balinese family compound with newly renovated super clean and spacious rooms. The gardens are meticulously cared for and jungle views are incredible. A truly peaceful gem right in the middle of town, but totally quiet and peaceful. Lovely big clean swimming pool. We stayed for 2 weeks and will definitely be back.

Really quiet location with beautiful private balcony overlooking river jungle. Very clean, nice shower and good location for getting around.
I wouldn’t change much. On arrival, some communication from the host would have been helpful (I arrived late at night to an empty reception desk and unclear how to access my room).
In the room itself, perhaps some better curtains as the neighbor’s balcony light shone brightly into my room.

+ location, center of everything
+ Beautiful garden to enjoy and a pool
+ Pretty quiet
+ Room was spacious and light
The customer service. It was pretty non-existent. It seemed like no one was in charge of running the place or interest of customer satisfactory.
Please don't make a customer promise you can't keep, it leads to a disappointment.
There is the document in a room that says the following: cleaning every day, change of towels 3 times a week, change of linens 2 times a week.
None of this happened. Cleaning didn't take place at least in two days, towels and linens were changed only once and even that by our request.
Also, slow laundry service; it took 2 days, and onlu after us asking about it.

The Homestay has many points in its favour: the location which makes it easy to reach and visit the town of Ubud. You enter the complex after crossing a patio full of temples and flowers, the garden is a small oasis of peace (the noise of the city is not heard), the pool is of good quality and allows you to cool off in the silence and calm. My room No 11 was next to a river which eased my sleep and waking up next to a small temple is a sweet experience. The room is simple, the mattresses are comfortable, the cleanliness is impeccable as in every part of the Homestay. The air conditioning works perfectly as does the WI FI. The room can be locked from the inside and you have water available to fill your bottles. The staff is present and available to organize tours even at the last minute.I recommend without any doubt the stay at Down The Rabbit Hole , in the case of my return to Ubud I will not hesitate to return with pleasure from them.
there is no hairdryer, breakfast has all the ingredients to improve I do not doubt that it will be so in the future! thanks!!

Very cute and clean room. Spacious and everything looks new. The bathroom is really nice with hot water. The location is tucked back from the road and it’s very quiet and peaceful. The staff were very helpful and cleaned the room everyday. I liked that the location was close to the rice paddy trails. They didn’t have a lot of breakfast options, but they made me tofu scramble as a vegan option.
I could hear my neighbors at night in their rooms so ear plugs were helpful.

The best thing about this place for me was the surrounding nature. Beautiful jungle views from all terraces, the great location is on the slope. They have a pool and a yoga shala which is great. Can hear the river water flowing underneath. It is also great for people who like walking - easy to go to town through a market street and in the morning it’s super nice to walk the opposite direction, out of town and towards the rice fields. There is a beautiful sweet orange walk just a short walk away. Rooms seem to have been refurbished recently, nice deco, terrace. Daily cleaning was appreciated. They let me check in early because room was ready.
The restaurant where breakfast was served is cozy, but the food itself a little basic: Bali coffee / tea, fruit and pancake, omelette or nasi goreng.
Ubud is still trying to fight the online taxis, and this homestay is no exception. They have a sign up “no online taxis allowed” and staff makes sure to remind you. They do offer taxi service like airport transfer for a similar price, but how about short bike rides one would take inside Ubud town..
Just mentioning it here with hope that it can be fixed - my room (No 2 I think) had mold on the wall behind the bed (no headboard) one could really smell it all the time and was a little unpleasant.

We stayed in 7 different hotels in Indonesia and this was definitely our favorite. The garden is otherwordly beautiful and the rooms spacious and even prettier than the pictures suggest. The bathroom was the best we have had in Indonesia. There is also a yoga space you can use. The location is right inside Ubud art market.
Keep in mind this is a family business so things don't run exactly like a clock. For example, no shampoo or shower gel was offered, the water label was moldy and we saw flies multiple times in the water tank offered to refill bottles. Just ask them if you have an issue and they will take care of it.

Location and environment was amazing
A few times strangers knocked on the door. Maybe have been a guest getting rooms mixed up. It was a little scary.

The whole experience was absolutely exceptional.
The hygiene level of Down The Rabbit Hole accommodation was outstanding, the food was always full of surprise and extremely delicious, I have never tasted such tasty and appetizing vegetarion menus before, the kitchen staff was definitely naturally gifted in creating such delicious and comfy vegan/vegetarian options. The whole staff were always full of smile and friendliness, and the support team were extremely helpful with organizing everything from the very beginning till the end of the program.
The teachers were phenomenal! I have gained so much knowledge and inspiration and they always gave their best to give us attention, care and compassion. Living in the beautiful local Balinese people and experienced the authentic culture of Bali have made one of my best adventures ever!
