Fabulous, we will return for sure.

The beds were very comfortable and the house was warm and welcoming.

We arrived in the dark and it was very icy. There is no outside light at the front of the property which was unfortunate.

Cannot recommend highly enough, perfect place for our friends& family stay for a wintry break.

The house, the grounds, the facilities, hot tub, the size of the property and bedrooms/ living rooms and warmth- the place was absolutely fantastic, couldn't have found or asked for more for our Hogmanay trip. Kids and dogs especially loved the incredible spaces to roam and play areas and woods surrounding the house.

Nothing- any queries were addressed by Marco ahead of arriving and any questions when we were there were answered promptly. The weather was pretty heavy snow/cold when we were there (which was awesome) so we had to consider some additional stuff- snow-shovels, brushes etc that weren't in the house, but Marco promptly informed us where within the grounds/sheds to find what we needed.

Amazing Christmas at The Polchar

Spent Christmas at the Polchar with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very spacious with great amenities and cooking facilities. All the bedrooms were super comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean. Our stay was brilliant and couldn’t fault anything with The Polchar.

Rural Aviemore stay

The location and size of property were great for our party of 8. Bedrooms were all good sized. Kitchen was extremely well stocked with everything you could need.

We experienced issues with the lack of bins throughout the property. The kitchen bin was broken, which was not acceptable. The outside bins were full before we even arrived so there was nowhere suitable to dispose of rubbish. We found this to be poor. We struggled to get the aga working properly. One of the bedrooms had crisps on the floor, so this didn't appear to have been cleaned properly. There was also a fair amount of dust, granted in harder to reach areas, however this did give the overall feel that the property wasn't particularly clean. The gardens were vast and lots of seating etc, however it all just felt a little bit uncared for, with leaves piling up and weeds in all the planters. It just could have been nicer.

Lounge chairs not too comfy, lacked a few utensils (chopping boards, peeler, etc), some showers did not drain, grounds overgrown. Mostly minor things.

Mums 70th birthday trip

Everything! The house and gardens are gorgeous! The house is so comfortable, kitchen has everything you need, great location, my mother in law is a keen gardener this house stood out for us because of the beautiful gardens, she was very happy to potter about the garden during our stay and tend to a few of the plants and flowers. We had a lovely stay, the host even returned a left behind bag to us in the post. 5 star review from us.

Having to leave was the worst part of our stay.

Felt like being trusted to stay at wealthy laird home.

Absolutely royal feeling to stay at this estate. Felt like a true laird :) House was huge, with ensuite bathrooms for every bedroom. Beds were extra soft and comfy. huge kitchen with all the appliances you could think of needing. Used the best barbecue grill for great food and outdoor jacuzzi for relaxing evenings. The BEST place to stay with extended family or friends! Recommended!

children's playground was a little worn down, but they still had fun.

February half term holiday

Stayed as a family of 4 for 7 nights, we loved the house, the space it had to offer, and the solitude. If you want to relax completely, then this is the perfect place. The rooms have lots of space and are very comfortable, and the surrounding grounds are amazing with plenty places to explore. Sitting in the Hot tub at night under the winter starry skies in sub zero temperatures was fabulous. The host Marco, although not present at the property, was very communicative and accommodating Overall, we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and will hopefully return again sometime in the future.

The Polchar was in an ideal location, had plenty of large rooms for couples, several rooms to gather, a great hot tub, and a beautiful garden path. It was nice to be able to come back from our adventures and cook dinner together.

Quality time with family.

This house was fantastic. Such a unique house. The photos don't do it justice. Very well equipped. Cosy and quirky. The host has put a lot of thought and effort into the whole house. Every bedroom was different but equally comfortable. Well equipped with everything you need for a break away with family and friends.

There are extra logs outside for the fire. Perhaps a wee log store to keep them dry. We had some issues keeping the fire lit as the extra logs were kept outside and were wet/damp with the weather. Very minor but some areas being missed when cleaning. Cobwebs in Various corners, behind curtains etc.

Incredible Holiday!

Absolutely everything! What a fantastic property, superb character, fantastic adventurous grounds to suit everyone. The property had everything and more, perfect space for families/friends to get together. We loved the outdoor space especially, it was incredible having access to multiple gardens, hotub, outdoor play area, a stream at the bottom of the garden, and multiple dining/seating areas outside, and how could I forget the outdoor kitchen bbq area, with a fire to the seating area and two large hammocks on the lawn. The property offers so much more than the basics, such as a dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and an ensuite to the king bedrooms! Plenty of storage in all bedrooms, and all the cleaning and toiletries you could possibly need. Huge fridge/freezer in the kitchen, too, and a radio which makes a nice touch. I could go on forever. This property is by far the best holiday home/destination I have ever stayed at. Short drive into Aviemore, short drive/walks to incredible lochs/lakes and waterfalls, where you can skim some rocks and go on an adventure.

There was nothing I didn't like, just a couple things I would have liked, or things that need doing as a general. A pathway of step lights to the hot tub as it is pitch black in the evening. If there are lights that we missed, a useful house guide would be fantastic as it is so big. For example, how to use the big and beautiful Aga Oven (which the owner quickly and happily sent over a link), and any helpful tips for using the hot tub/bbq, which was relatively easy. The upstairs king ensuite bedroom to the left, the shower slowly drains and needs turning off mid shower to drain, so this may need unblocking? The TV in the lounge is in a mirror casing, which makes it very blurry and distorted if you're not sat in front looking directly at it, meaning others cannot see the screen from the other seats. The only other thing may be that there are no tvs in the bedrooms, which i didn't mind at all. We were too busy and tired to need it.

Idyllic

We loved everything about The Polchar ! Beautiful property full of character, set in a wonderful peaceful location with amazing grounds and views. The house is full of surprises, with quirky artefacts, and great attention has been shown . You feel like the host had invited you to stay with him/her. The beds were large and so comfortable, with spotless linen and soft white bath towels had been rolled and laid on each bed. The kitchen has an Aga which we enjoyed using for breakfasts, but as the weather was glorious, sunny and 25 degrees throughout are stay, we used the fantastic built -in barbecue and ate alfresco at the large round garden table areas which had a safe built -in fire to keep you cosy as the night drew in. The hot tub was a huge success! Thanks must go to Marco for his efficiency and pleasant demeanour. Our special family birthday celebration will be locked into our memories forever. We felt like we had found our perfect place. I’d live there forever !

Zauberhaftes Haus braucht mehr Pflege um zauberhaft zu bleiben

Das Haus ist einfach zauberhaft. Es gibt überall etwas zu bestaunen, es ist urig, gemütlich und nahezu perfekt für ein Familientreffen! Der gesamte Garten ist ein Abenteuer für Kinder und wirkt ebenfalls wie verzaubert. Die Lage ist toll, inmitten der Natur voller Ruhe…einfach wundervoll in einem so historischen Haus für eine Zeit leben zu dürfen! Das Team vor Ort, was etwas reparieren musste war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Kontakt zu Marco war unkompliziert und hilfreich.

Leider war das Anwesen etwas ungepflegt. Die Bilder zeigen einen ausnahmslosen Zustand - in Wirklichkeit braucht es etwas mehr Liebe und Pflege der Beete. Wir haben recht viel Müll auf dem Grundstück gefunden. Ein zerbrochenes Fußballtor lag einfach so auf dem Rasen. Das Glas des Vormieters war noch da. Fensterscheiben im Haus sind gerissen und wurden nicht getauscht. In den Zimmern der oberen Etage sind die offenen Spitzböden voller Spinnweben. Wir mussten mehrfach wegen einer nicht funktionierenden Spülung mit der Hausverwaltung in Kontakt treten. Der Kontakt war grundsätzlich hilfreich, jedoch auch etwas fordernd. Es wurde eine Erreichbarkeit von uns vorausgesetzt (wegen des Schlüssels). Im Urlaub möchte ich mich um solche Dinge nicht kümmern müssen. Ein Ersatzschlüssel sollte beim Verwalter zur Verfügung stehen. Für diese Mankos wars die Unterkunft einfach zu teuer.

Lijkt een huis uit een film!

De enorme ruimte in en om het huis, de behulpzaamheid van de host, prachtige kamers passend bij het huis, fantastische lokatie met prachtige tuinen en vijver. Vanuit hier vele activiteiten te ondernemen, je zit zo op de doorgaande weg. Prachtig wandelgebied.

Op hetzelfde terrein is nog een woning. Daarom kunnen er bijvoorbeeld mensen langs lopen. Door de houten kozijnen, deuren en vloeren sloten niet alle deuren even goed.
