Parking next to chalet. Stunning location views. Great layout all bedrooms connected to central kitchen/living room (good with kids). Kids loved the bunk! Short pretty walk to restaurant & ski hire shop. Full restaurant & bar plus 2 X play park areas for kids. Chalet has a torch. Tea towels/washing up liquid and sponges and Henry hoover in the chalet. Lots of crockery and cups. Beds made: linen towels provided. Staff easy to get hold of when I called. Very cosy cute wooden chalet.
No bath. No laundry facilities in the chalet but are available for an additional cost. No sharp chopping knife or scissors so bring with. No plastic cups or plates for young children. Bring with.

Spacious and served its purpose for a family holiday with our 3 adult daughters + niece
Warm (heating worked well for December and sub zero temps)
Good enough kitchen and appliances although oven didn't work well (see below)
Spacious enough living area with ample seating (for 6 adults)
Loft area worked well as additional sleeping area.
Ample.parking right outside the cabin (we had 2 cars)
great area for walks and access to the Loch
Nice pub on site (we didn't use the restaurant so cannot comment)
Helpful staff although the extra firewood promised didn't get delivered
20min easy drive to Aviemore
Oven was underpowered and didn't seal so smoked out the cabin. Fortunately we had a slow cooker we brought with otherwise Christmas lunch wouldn't have happened.
only 1 bathroom (shower only) for 6 adults and old and needs refurbished/ modernised.
Cabin worked well but its tired and could do with a refit
Beds creaked dreadfully even when simply turning over or changing position.
But above didn't detract from a happy and fun time away with our family (some from overseas).

This was a fabulous stay in a family run location that couldn't be more tranquil right down by the lock. There were masses of activities on tap from skiing to skating to water sports or a beautiful walk round the loch.
We did several of the skiing sessions and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. They were great for my teenage kids. The Boathouse restaurant had a good selection of food and hot drinks on tap. The room was comfortable with a small kitchen and a roaring fire!! The staff on reception were very flexible and accommodating. We had the best Hogmanay there in years.
The room had a small single bed but everything was clean and tidy.

Excellent location, beautiful views.
The hot tub and our chalet (Glenfiddich) were amazing, very cozy, comfortable and super clean.
The kitchen was well-equipped, modern.
Wi-Fi was very weak, therefore the Smart TV in the room was unusable. Bathroom could use an upgrade as well, especially the sink. Water pressure was quite low.

The chalet was super cosy and well equipped with a beautiful view. The location was perfect and the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We loved it was a family business that has a long history in the area.
The bathroom could have been improved.
6.0 / 10.0
The location, the view from the chalet, the log burner
Only half the hot tub worked, the check in time was very late and the check out time was very early, shower cubicle was very small

Location was nice and check
In and check out nice and easy. Great if you were in a big group for outdoors activities not the best for a family break
Tv had no signal, all big heavy fire doors which wasn’t ideal for our wee boy, I didn’t realise the rooms were bunk beds and single beds either. More like a hostel set up than an apartment.

Chalet was cozy and comfortable. There were a good variety of activities available for all ages, even for November, with people on and in the loch. The on-site restaurant was good, as we're the kitchen facilities in the chalet. The surroundings are beautiful and a number of attractions are within easy reach by car. Overall, very pleased and look forward to staying again.
The steps between the chalet and the play park, beach, restaurants, etc. can be slippy with leaves - a grippier surface on the wood of the steps would help. Signage to the upper reception area could be clearer; there was a bit of guesswork involved when arriving after the sun had gone down. Mixer taps would be a good improvement - the hot water gets very hot.

Great to have our own space, lovely apartment. Great set up.
The restaurant was having some staffing issues so we ended up not able to eat there on the first night. But otherwise brilliant.

We liked the log fire and the hot tub
On our last night we had booked a table at the restaurant only to be told when we arrived that we could not eat there because the kitchen was closed and as a result had to drive into Aviemore (7 miles) in order to find a restaurant.

Perfect location and clean
A few notes for the owners: the design of the shower is unfortunate and means the bathroom floor gets completely soaking. Can opener did not work. No pans big enough for a chalet sleeping 7

We absolutely loved our stay at Loch Insh. We purchased the day pass for activities and we spoilt for choice with endless fun doing canoeing, archery, skiing, tubing, bike riding and the jungle float. The hosts were extremely accommodating and helpful going out of their way to organise activities. Our kids had the best time and we will never forget this magical experience in the highlands.

Nice lodge, great views in peaceful location. Good facilities. Hot tub a perk.
Lodge carpets and interior a little worn but as we had dogs and it’s a dog friendly cabin that’s to be expected. Instructions about dishwasher, tv internet and hot tub weren’t that clear. Would be fab if there was a little onsite shop to get milk and basics. We brought these with us but the storm Amy caused a power cut from 8am to 6pm and all our cold food was ruined.

- The location was great. The loch is very picturesque and we stayed right next to the woods. All the local attractions are very closeby.
- The wood burning stove was good. The kitchen was well stocked, it had everything we needed.
- The main issue we had was that you are staying in a hostel dorm. It's clear that the apartment is also booked out as two separate hostel rooms (downstairs and upstairs). With that being the case, the main sitting area feels like/is a common area.
- The building that the apartment is in (Insch Hall) is the hostel block - with lots of smaller hostel rooms next to the apartment.
- Overall the place was fairly clean but there were small things that made it feel a bit dirty - such as the alcohol stains on the ceiling, and the wood around the shower was rotten and mouldy.
- The highchair provided was dirty.
- Overall, we felt like we spent a lot of money to stay in a converted hostel as opposed to a real apartment.

Easy the door was left open and key on the table. There was a key safe which I think would have been better to use.
The smell from the sceptic tanks at bottom of hill wasn't great and the window in front hall was broken so it could be opened from the outside.

The chalet was very cute and in a beautiful setting. It was a great space for a few people and it wasn't very far from Aviemore. The list of activities available looked amazing, though we didn't have the chance to do any. The restaurant was also quite good and the staff were lovely.
It was a little difficult to find the correct entrance and chalet but an out of hours number is available if you need help.

Nothing other than the small beach area down at the Loch, (hence the 2 stars) however that was tarnished by a large group of screaming children.
Where do I start!
Just awful all round. Firstly, when booking this, it said it came with a hot tub. I checked this several times, and both my partner and I could see the hot tub symbol and it worded in the accommodation we booked. The accommodation infact did not have a hot tub and instead was giving a shabby, run down disgusting hut.
The whole accommodation was dirty. There was a bottle and sweet wrappers on the floor. We wiped down all the surfaces as that didn't even look clean.
The toilet was horrendous. Human waste staines inside the toilet, 2 rolls of what I can describe as paper towel toilet roll provided for 5 people on a 2 night stay.
The whole cabin was falling apart. Pictures that were advertised are not what the cabin looks like. Completely false advertising.
WiFi non existent for the most part. No toiletries provided. Smaller tv that what was advertised. No access to activities such as the pool table, despite it being mentioned in an e-mail from the place. Broken window and if you enjoy a window cleaner coming round peering through the widows while your trying to eat your breakfast, then this is the place for you.
The cost of £500 is an absolute disgrace. Thats the kind of money you would pay for a more luxurious stay with a hot tub.
Genuinely the worst place we have ever stayed in for the money that was paid. Utterly deluded if these owners think that's acceptable.
AVOID!!!

Fab location, lots of space and storage areas for bikes, boards etc. Relaxed atmosphere. Very close to lake and water sports. Fantastic cycle routes and trails on the doorstep. On-site bar and restaurant had warm relaxing atmosphere and fantastic view over Loch Insh.
Very poor water pressure, shower almost unusable. Some mould in shower tray. Appt a little dark with poor lighting. Needs some lamps and perhaps decor freshening up. Dishwasher not working. Size of living space however was great.

Really nice location with a fantastic view of Loch Insh. Friendly people all over the site.
Sleeping for 1 person on first floor was ok but it had obviously not been cleaned for a longer period. Needed to be vacummed as it was pretty dusty.

Great location, great chalet, fantastic staff. Will definitely visit again
Wi-fi in the lodge was poor and dropped out completely on the last day. Not the end of the world as it's sometimes nice to switch off, but it could be improved.

The location was amazing, country, walks freedom to have the space to do our own thing! It would have been nice to have been placed together as a party of 14. This was a family booking for my husband who is terminally ill. We live in the Highlands and booked for family to come up. Booking.com failed to deliver what they we’re advertising, but the hosts were amazing and went above and beyond to provide support and to make sure that we were catered for despite the maintenance issues they had on the day. I hope they are happy with the way our family party left the apartments/chalets! The host on arrival was amazing, again went above and beyond.
Sadly booking through booking.com led us to believe that there were hot tubs at every property. This wasn’t the case and out of 4 apartments we didn’t get one. This was disappointing, but we made the best of the situation. The restaurant on site was a bit of a let down, they changed the menu but didn’t update their website, couldn’t do takeaway for one of our party that was unable to go for dinner. On the Sunday my daughter tried from 7:10 to place an order for collection but the phone wasn’t answered. My husband on our return tried to get a take out meal at 7:50 but they said they were closed. Yet advertised until 9pm. I wouldn’t use this facility if I came back for another break! They were unreliable. In the restaurant the food was like warm and staff inattentive.

The location was lovely, and the chalet was OK. I did think l had reserved a loch view cabin but something must have gone wrong as we didnt get it but that would have been down to Booking.com. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we had a nice time. I think you really should promote the walks around Loch Insh and the wildlife as this wasn't high lighted anywhere.
It was great that there was a drying pully outside the cabin to dry our swimming stuff.
A review book in each cabin would be nice, l personally love reading other people's reviews on what they got up to on their stay.
We ate in the restaurant one night, staff were really good about my sons peanut and soya allergy but it did turn out all you food is cooked in a vegtable oil that contains soya bean oil.....so there was not much choice to eat for him. The chef did cook him something safe but he unfortunately didn't like it.
It would have been nice to have had a bit more privacy in our cabin as people kept walking by the windows as the path was right in front of our cabin. It would have also been nice to have a private place to sit outside. And not nice that people just let their dogs mess on the grass around cabins. They did clean it up, but l didn't want my kids sitting or playing on grass. The play parks need major upgrading as one was totally shut off due to unsafe equipment and the other needed the zip line fixed......kids and adults love a zip line, so this was disappointing that it didnt work.
Everytime anyone had a shower, the floor go soaked and it took ages for it to dry, even if we mopped it. The shower was also very smelly from the drain. The fridge could have been bigger.
Another thing that would have been good was a place to hang up the towels in each bedroom because we kept on getting our towels mixed up.

Stunning views!
Beautifully made log cabin nestled on the hill side overlooking the Loch Insh. The pictures don’t do justice for this place. It very well exceeded our expectations. Truely Highlands feel …
The staff were amazing and very friendly. One morning when we were having breakfast outside the chalet, one of the restaurant staff stopped by for a chat and offered to take a photo of our family.
A minor issue was the hot water that seemed to be lukewarm most of the times
