Prima accomodatie in het centrum en toch rustig.

Das Apartment ist sehr geräumig; auf zwei Etagen hatten wir drei Schlafzimmer und drei Doppelbetten zur Verfügung. Die obere Etage ist durch eine Holzwendeltreppe zu erreichen, kleinere Kinder sollten bei der Benutzung beaufsichtigt werden. - Im großen Schlafzimmer unten befindet sich ein großer Kleiderschrank, auch ein Bügelbrett und Bügeleisen sind vorhanden. Die Küche ist mit Kühlschrank und Gefrierschrank, mit Backofen, Induktionsherd und Spülmaschine ausgestattet. Der Vermieter stellte uns ganz kurzfristig gegen Gebühr einen Stellplatz in einer sehr gut gelegenen Tiefgarage zur Verfügung. Esch hat eine sehenswerte Universität (das Bibliotheksgebäude hat einen Architekturpreis gewonnen) auf dem Gelände der ehemaligen Stahlproduktion. Die alten Gebäude und Gerätschaften des Industriegeländes sind in die Neubauten integriert. Wenn man mit Kindern reist, ist der Stadtpark mit seinem großen Abenteuerspielplatz etwas oberhalb am Berg beim Stadion sehr empfehlenswert.

In der Küche fehlten Gabeln, es waren nur drei vorhanden. Ein Küchenmesser zum Obst- und Gemüseschneiden wäre schön gewesen, ebenso ein Flaschenöffner. - Die Temperaturregulation der Dusche funktioniert nicht gut. Kühlschrank und Gefrierschrank waren vereist, der Backofen leider nicht gereinigt (das haben wir dann getan). Das Haus insgesamt ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

The apartment was reasonably clean at first glance and had most of the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was equipped with the necessary appliances, dishes, and utensils, although some of the kitchenware was rather basic and inexpensive. The host was polite and responsive to our messages. Communication was smooth, and we had no problems arranging access to the apartment or the garage.

Overall, our experience was rather mixed. The apartment looks better in the photos than it does in reality. The pictures show selected parts of the property and don't really give you a clear idea of its actual layout and condition. Cleanliness: While the main visible areas appeared reasonably clean, a closer look revealed quite a different picture. There were thick layers of dust on shelves, and large amounts of dust were literally hanging from the ceiling light fixtures. The sofa in the living room was also quite dirty, with numerous visible stains. The dishwasher was particularly unpleasant when we arrived. There was dirty water, foam, and food residue left inside, along with a very bad smell. We had to run several cleaning cycles before we felt comfortable using it. The dishwasher itself was also old, with some damaged or loose racks. The kettle had a very thick layer of limescale, and the refrigerator had a huge buildup of ice taking up a significant amount of space. Layout and accessibility: One of the biggest drawbacks is the second bedroom, which is actually an open sleeping loft under the roof, accessible only via a very narrow, steep spiral staircase that appears to be custom-built. This might be manageable for teenagers or younger guests, but it is definitely not convenient for older people, especially if they need to go downstairs to use the bathroom at night. The sleeping area also has no door, so there is practically no sound insulation from the living room and kitchen. The apartment itself is on the seventh floor, but the elevator only goes to the sixth. You first need to climb steps to enter the building, take the elevator, and then climb another flight of stairs. This makes carrying luggage quite inconvenient. Parking is another issue. There are very few parking spaces on the street, and they always seemed to be occupied.
