Rock Shade Chalet- Sigiriya

The place was really lovely, in a beautiful location and the staff were even lovelier! We was worried about bugs when we got there but we had no issues at all, the mosquito net did a great job. We did have a cheeky squirrel who kept playing with the toilet roll haha but we didn't mind! The pool was a lovely touch after a long hike up Lion rock! We had a really lovely staff here. We did a cooking class which was really fun and the food was always good!

The place is a little out the way but it was expected and we had trips booked already so this wasn't an issue for us. The wifi wasn't that great!

The staff were incredible!! Losanta and his team couldn’t do enough to help us and made our stay extra special. The rooms were all perfect with nice bathrooms and AC. Pool was lovely to relax in and we loved playing cricket with the team! They helped organise taxis and the safari, and even ran a cooking course for us in the hotel which was super fun. We had the best time at Rock Shade and were sad to leave.

We had a great stay at the chalet Our girls loved tree top house kind. Rooms and beds are comfortable The property is beautiful with its exotic garden where they take the fruits for the breakfast Very pleasant and peaceful pool Food and breakfast are good as week Property is well located between minnerya and lion rock that you can see from the garden A good nature reconnection Staff is also very kind and you can have a cricket or srilankan food class :)

WiFi could be faster

The friendly staff on site were absolutely the best thing about this stay. They helped organise rides when we needed them because the place is away from the main centre and down a long bumpy road so it was difficult to organise rides ourselves. The mosquito net was great as well. There is also some interesting wildlife around - the first few minutes of our stay was spent bird watching.

The food was below average but there aren’t any other options available close by. You felt a little stranded there’s nothing to do in the immediate area. The peace was interrupted by the daily lawn mowing. The outdoor bathroom sounded like a nice idea but in reality our room had a large tree right next to it which just invited bugs and frogs at night. My partner accidentally flushed two frogs down the toilet when they jumped in to the commode or hid under the toilet seat, and before each shower she sprayed at least a couple of hammerhead flatworms (an invasive species) that would be slithering by the shower. During the day the bathroom was totally fine apart from once when the water wasn’t working. The tv didn’t work as we never got the second remote and the wifi was not great.
