A truly warm and peaceful place in the heart of nature
Our stay at Thal Sewana was such a warm and heartwarming experience. It felt more like staying in a home than in a hotel. Surrounded by the jungle, the property was incredibly quiet and peaceful, giving us the perfect opportunity to slow down, relax and take a break from the busy city.
One of the most memorable moments was when the owner personally guided us to the lion rock early in the morning (4:50), carrying a flashlight to help us find our way.
The owner is a truly lovely, warm-hearted woman who made us feel welcome and cared for. She also gifted us a small Buddha statue, which we brought home with us and now keep in our house. It is a beautiful reminder of our time there and of the kindness we experienced.
We are deeply grateful for her hospitality, her generosity and the wonderful, peaceful energy of this place. If you are looking for somewhere to reconnect with nature, enjoy the silence and experience genuine Sri Lankan hospitality, we wholeheartedly recommend Thal Sewana.

Host are super nice and helpful. The meals, the location just amazing. Both hikes to Lion Rock and Pidurangala are close by. Leaving the place I was able to reach both summits within an hour.

Thal Sewana felt like a home away from home. Cosy stay in the jungle, which is at a walkable distance from both Sigiriya and Pidurangala.
Cosy stay, lovely hosts and excellent food. The breakfast was not the regular omelette and bread toast. It was a lovely spread with pancakes, cakes and other homemade dishes. It was a well earned treat after Sigiriya hike.

100/10!! If you are looking for a homestay with superb and clean place, look no further!! Just book now! The owner is such a sweet lady and as a female solo traveller i felt so at home immediately I reach the property. The location is also really close to both the rocks - walkable definitely and her food is so good!! You can tell their efforts to make sure you have the best local stay.
