Riverston Nature Villa

Die Umgebung ist sehr ruhig und idyllisch, die Unterkunft liegt direkt am Fluss. Der Gastgeber Jaya ist sehr hilfsbereit und hat uns ausführliche Informationen zu Wanderungen und Aktivitäten in der Umgebung gegeben. Auch seine Angestellten sind sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir haben in der Standard Villa gewohnt, diese hat einen separaten Zugang. Von der Terrasse aus blickt man auf den Fluss, in dem man auch baden kann. Der Bus hält an der Unterkunft und man kann von hier aus auch alleine verschiedene Wanderungen starten.

Wir haben 6 Nächte hier verbracht, mit zwei kleinen Kindern (1+4 Jahre). Wir haben uns wie persönliche Gäste von Jaya uns Divya gefühlt. Sie haben Ausflüge für uns organisiert, z.B. ein Gang durch den Dschungel ins nächste Dorf, eine Busfahrt nach Matale mit Besuch von zwei Tempeln, und eine Wanderung zu einem Bergsee. Es waren wirklich authentischen Erfahrungen fern vom Massentourismus. Die Mahlzeiten waren lecker und abwechslungsreich. Zudem setzt sich Jaya für das Wohl seiner Community ein und organisierte z.B. ein Essen bei den Nachbarn. Als i-Tüpfelchen gab es eine artenreiche Vogelwelt: wir sahen z.B. das endemische Ceylonpapageichen, Malaienadler, Braunliest, Gelbstirn-Bartvogel, Graubrustdrongo, Weißbrauenbülbül, und viele mehr. Insgesamt eine außergewöhnliche Erfahrung, genau so, wie wir es gern haben.

Alles prima! Wer in der Regensaison wandern möchte, sollte sich gegen Blutegel wappnen. :-)

Divya, who maintains the villa, was a pleasant lady. Delicious food she prepared. The price for the food is ok. It is a pleasant environment.Easyacess. There are few public transport in the morning you can use to go to reveston Tower, Pitawala pathana and Manigala. you have to wait till the same bus return in the evening.

The price of the room is a little high. Basic toiletries were not provided.Little reluctant to accommodate the booking of who is living in Srilanka.

Our stay at this charming cottage nestled deep in the Knuckles jungle was nothing short of magical. The peaceful setting, surrounded by lush greenery, offered the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A beautiful mountain river, Nikal Oya, runs along the edge of the property—its crystal-clear, ice-cold waters are ideal for a refreshing dip. We learned from the friendly owner that this is the highest altitude in the river suitable for bathing, which made the experience even more special. The hospitality was exceptional. The caretaker, Diviya, went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. She personally guided us to a hidden mountain temple and the stunning Bambarakiri Ella waterfall, leading us through picturesque paddy fields along the way. Riverston Peak is just 9 km from the cottage, and watching the sunset from the mountain was absolutely breathtaking. If you’re looking to unwind, reconnect with nature, and explore some of Sri Lanka’s lesser-known natural wonders, this is the place for you. Public transport is also available nearby, which is a bonus for travelers without a car. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Riverston area!
