Sigiriya Elephant Villa was an absolutely wonderful place to stay! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The pool was great and the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The food was amazing, with delicious and authentic Sri Lankan flavours that made every meal a highlight of our stay. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their genuine kindness and hospitality really made the experience special. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Sigiriya Elephant Villa to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable stay with great food, a lovely pool, and wonderful hospitality!

We so wanted to love our stay here. But we’re disappointed at nearly every turn. Positives: The location is remote, far away from the town of Sigirya, so you’re fully immersed in nature. Sandya and her daughter were very sweet and tried their hardest, but their very minimal English and lack of training limited what they could do. The architecture of the villas and the main area is stunning.

False advertising: we booked a ‘deluxe villa’ which allegedly contained 4 separate beds and a living room. But we were put in a one-bed hut with no living room. The stunning photo of the living room that it seems everyone is offered only exists in one villa. We eventually got moved to there (as no other guests in whole place) but there was no WiFi or phone coverage, and no lights worked. Our rooms were dirty, only one electrical socket worked, and I had to ask multiple times for control for the a/c. Bathrooms were truly awful - shower heads filled with rust so no water came out, flooding on floors from leaking ceiling, cistern, sink, taps. Water would cut out for no reason. Floor and surfaces were all dirty. Huge centipedes, spiders, mosquitoes (and multiple friendly frogs) Very remote location - you need your own vehicule. Many Tuktuks refused to bring us back there as too far. Or charged 1,800-2,000 LKR per journey. Noise - there are 4 dogs on the property plus a 5th stray one who is in awful condition. Whenever he visited (frequently esp at night) horrific dog fights would ensue. I’ve never slept so badly - literally hours on end of barking and howling every night. Main issue: owner is in Colombo. She’s only one who speaks any English or who has skills to manage a hotel especially after a cyclone. The on site staff had to call her constantly even to communicate simple issues. Such a large area with multiple villas etc needs a skilled manager on site who can actually communicate with guests.
