Of course the location is great, right on the village square. We had a room with a double bed and one single room with a twin bed. The double room was a bit tight - just a bit of room to walk on one side of the bed, but the room was beautifully detailed in wood on all walls and the ceiling. The twin room was basic, but fine, and had a sink which was a bonus when sharing a bathroom. Breakfast was very simple, but available from exceptionally early -- something like 5am as it's all self serve. The restaurant is very good. Not a lot of choice if you are gluten free, but they can do the fondue with wine instead of beer and serve it with potatoes/vegetables. It was DELICIOUS! The chestnut vermicelli dessert is also really interesting and fun to try.
Sharing a bathroom was a downside and the bathrooms could use some updating, but in terms of the price, this is a real deal in Vals.
