Drivers Warning! It stated on hotels.com that the room came with on site parking. I arrived and was told to park around the back but the 5 or 6 spaces were filled and I asked about overspill parking. The man said I had to park on the street. I asked him how this worked with them paying the council for the ticket and he said no that was my job to sort it out. I said you must be joking but he informed me that I should have read the small print that there was limited parking at the hotel...5 or 6 spots for the entire hotel! He even said he allowed someone who had checked out to continue parking longer. They were to check out at 1100 but it was now 1430 and new guests were arriving from 1400! I said this was ridiculous and asked for a refund. To be fair he was going to process a refund to get rid of me but the amazing Simone stepped in with a solution and saved the day. I could tell the man was raging at this point...his face was priceless. The bed in room 17 was one of them beds that the mattress was held by thin cheap wood sticks and made a right noise when you moved. On a positive note, Simone was outstandingly helpful, the room had lovely high ceilings and the hotel was city centre. I won't return though due to their parking situation and bed.

Shower extremely low pressure. Bathroom door broken and previous fixed using fence screws. Bed uncomfortable and frame unsafe.

Lovely room and great staff

Our upgraded room to a superior one on the 2nd floor to the front of the building was very comfortable, with seating area in the bay window with a sea view. The bathroom had a bath with shower over which was great
8.0 / 10.0
Housekeeping were great as were most on reception. Good shower, but bathroom light was dodgy and turned on/off at will. Room door jams - no good if you can't shoulder bump it to get in, potential fire hazard when exiting. The room is comfortable, if looking tired. Locking internal doors when reception closes, blocking a communal space, makes it feel like you're in a hostel. Inconsistent reception closing times meant 1 day was at 4 30pm. Too early.
8.0 / 10.0
Noisiest door in the world to my room and a fire trap if you're not strong enough to shoulder charge it open or get caught inside. Comfortable room, if dated. Sleep was fine after requesting a new mattress and duvet. Staff are hit and miss. Housekeeping are great. One morning the internal door to reception was not opened (8.40am, supposed to be open at 7) leaving an older patron stuck. I went round and opened it. One night no lights on at the front door - safety issue. Another, no lights turned on my side of the building - again, safety on dark stairs. Last night, front door locked before their 10pm shut down of reception - not welcoming.

Second stay at this lovely independent hotel. Even better than the first stay as no issue with a squeaky bed this time and everything else was as good as before.
Great location near The Hoe and a short walk down to the city centre. Brought my car this time and parking was no problem.
All staff, both on reception and at breakfast were happy and smiling, which costs nothing but makes a big difference.
Look forward to returning.

I stayed here as a solo traveller. The room was basic but had everything I needed and was generally clean although it could have been a bit better under the bed. The bed itself was comfortable and I slept well once I managed to get to sleep.
The walls were thin and I could hear my neighbours’ loud music until I eventually drifted off which was a downside. The staff were friendly and lovely throughout my stay.
The car park was full so I bought a parking permit from reception for £10. Unfortunately, I was wrongly advised about where I could park which resulted in a parking ticket — disappointing as it could have been avoided.
Overall, a decent stay with a few issues that could be improved.

Reception staff lovely both on arrival and departure. Breakfast freshly cooked and lush. Single room was just the job, clean and shower great, however bed a bit squeaky when moving but slept well. Great location near Hoe and not far from City Centre. Price was good value and better than well known chain hotels.

Ok
Expensive for what it was. Small room on 4th floor no lift, was not made aware of this at booking and with elderly mother she found the stairs hard.
Shower did not work, broken.
Parking very limited and could not reserve. Okay very basic

Nice welcoming staff and clean room. The single bed was appalling, uncomfortable and creaked like a Napoleonic warship even with the slightess movement. Not a restful night despite a quiet location in the hotel.

My stay was limited to a place to sleep as I was attending sporting event, so experience limited, however the room was clean, shower decent and check in and out very friendly and efficient so no complaints at all!

Close to Plymouth Hoe and not to far from city centre.
Parking is not really possible on the roads. You have to use the public car park which is not cheap.

Stayed in many places in Plymouth city and This place is a little gem. All the staff we came across were all really friendly and the breakfast was bang on for what we paid

The hotel itself is beautiful. There’s no lift, which is understandable as it’s a listed building, but something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. The staff are wonderful and go above and beyond to look after guests. Donna, the lady who takes care of the dining room, deserves a special mention because she keeps the area spotless and adds thoughtful touches that make the space feel welcoming every time you walk in. (Incidentally, this is the first hotel I’ve stayed in that offers yummy boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast! 😋)
I was very lucky during my stay because the guests next to me were quiet. However, the day before I left new arrivals moved in and were constantly up and down the stairs banging on doors, which was quite disruptive.
I experienced a small payment issue, but Anna resolved it within minutes, which was much appreciated.
I stayed in Room 34 and would strongly recommend installing a proper handle on the inside of the door. The Yale-style latch combined with the door dragging tightly on the carpet makes it almost impossible to open. Anyone with arthritis or limited hand mobility would struggle and in an emergency this could prove dangerous.
One small gripe: I noticed while the rooms were being aired by housekeeping that the larger twin and family rooms had 50” TVs, whereas my single room only had a very small wall-mounted TV. It felt a bit disappointing as it made the single room seem less considered in comparison.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grosvenor. I appreciated its history and the two lounges had comfy seating. It was a few minutes walk away from The Hoe where I enjoyed strolling and sitting on the benches looking out onto the water.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. I loved the deep bath. The bed was comfortable and the blackout curtains made the room nice and dark for sleeping.
Breakfast was delicious with many options. I highly recommend this hotel.

Shower cubicle needs a revamp and something to put soap, shampoo etc in
Carpet looked a bit grubby
Bed wasn't comfortable, too soft for me, guess may suit others
There is a guest lounge/dining room complete with fridge & microwave, but the lady who checked me in didn't advise me about it. A bonus if you know about it!

The only downside was that the guest above us was noisy during the night apart from that all else was a great stay and we will visit again .

Location was great for what we needed.
The room we stayed in was right up on the 4th floor. Clean and tidy however bathroom could do with an update sink was broken and repaired. The room was very humid . Window opening very slight on a lock. Couldn't open further. They had a trip on the electric wiring so no lights but was seen to immediately
