Friendly, clean and good breakfast but it did not meet our expectations of a four star hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was simple (no hot food) and good. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The location is very good for exploring the old town.

We have stayed in ‘a superior double room’ in other four star hotels all over the world and, sadly, Alleehaus did not meet up to our expectations. The outside looks a bit neglected, the Reception is only open at certain hours so you have to carry around a chunky key all day - haven’t had to do this anywhere else for years!! This key opened our room and the main front door - seemed a bit odd! Maybe it opened all other rooms too?!! We would expect four star hotels to have a lounge/bar area, a 24 hr Reception, a safe in the room, air conditioning (we did have a fan though), more comfortable beds (the sofa bed which I ended up sleeping on was not comfortable) as well as a bathroom which was narrow and claustrophobic. Anyone slightly larger than average would not have fit in the shower. We consider the Alleehaus more of a Guest House than a hotel and four stars is a stretch. There were lights by the beds that did not have any sort of cover on and my daughter ended up nearly burning her hand because they were so hot , overall not a pleasant experience.

Perfect

Beautiful property just on the edge of old town, spotless and great facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful and we were offered an upgrade upon arrival. Great minibar if so desired and private parking. Breakfast was the best of our 2 week road trip.

A very nice breakfast, super speedy reaction via e-mail, excellent location. Friendly staff. I arrived later than I expected but received very clear instructions concerning the check-in procedure.

enjoyable stay

Great lquiet location very close to old town. Good breakfast, comfortable rooms. Courteous staff, parking on location although our a tight spot was in a nearby building across the street. Room was big by european standards.

we were assigned a room on the upper floor. No elevator, should have known that before but hauling heavy luggage all the way up was a bit of a challenge. not an issue at the ti e of our stay but no AC in the room.

A fine hotel which we will return to on our next visits to Freiburg.

The location at the edge of the Old Town was close to where our daughter lives. So the close proximity to her was perfect. We found the breakfast options were extensive. The staff were exceptional and were very helpful. When we had an early departure time the hotel made an early breakfast available which was gratefully received.

1. charging a 21-month-old baby 12 euros for breakfast is nonsense! 2. free parking places are sufficient on the street, charging 9 euro per night for a narrow garage is nonsense.

Excellent location (close to the old town). Very good breakfast. Very friendly stuff (Special thanks to Nadia). Parking at the hotel (with additional price - 9 euro per day). It is not disadvantage, but there is no elevator. The hotel in the old beautiful building, but without elevator. The first night was not good, but stuff helps us to change to the more comfortable and quite room and from this moment all was excellent.
