Location and the beautiful rooms also the breakfast was fantastic
We had an extremely unpleasant experience with an employee (who had several complaints against him ) and when we sent our complaint to the head of the hotel it was ignored no one ever got back to us. Was very disappointed about that

The hotel is situated near one of the clock towers a short walk to the Munster. The building is architecturally beautiful. Very old but very well maintained. Super warm, cosy room with extremely comfortable beds. A nicely presented breakfast with plenty of choice. We may return to Freiburg and will stay here again if we do. Helpful and attentive staff.

Lovely historic hotel in a central location – perfect for visiting the Münster and wandering around the old town, or taking the Straßenbahn. The breakfast was first-rate – plenty of choice, everything fresh and nicely presented. Our room was clean, spacious and very quiet. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever experienced.
Nothing not to like, apart from the fact the restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, but there are so many nice eateries in the vicinity, that that wasn't really a problem.

Beautiful property right in centre of old town. Staff very helpful and an excellent breakfast

The location is wonderful. The provided breakfast was very good. Our room was charming and very clean. The building is fascinating; make sure you visit the basement to see the early foundations. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant. In response to other reviews, you can lock the door of your room from the inside, but it's old fashioned so it takes a minute to figure it out. There was a heated shelf beneath the sink that helped dry out the socks I washed.
We liked it all, but if you're looking for modern accommodations, keep looking. This is a charming, old hotel that has modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. The staff for the inn is also taking care of the reception for the restaurant; they were attentive, but you may have to wait a couple minutes.

The breakfast was fresh and delicious. You can’t beat the location, everything was a five minute walk away.

Nice central place. Our room was fine and quiet. Looked like it had been renovated not too long ago.
The breakfast was a buffet type, quite complete.
Unfortunately, the communication with the hotel staff was pretty much non existent, reduced to the bare minimum. When we arrived, the check-in was done by a young man who only spoke German with a relatively strong accent (my German is far from being perfect, but I can normally understand). During our two nights stay we were barely greeted by the staff, and the check-out was done by a lady in good English but reduced to a few words not even asking if we had been happy about our stay!

Good location and the room was fine.
It was all acceptable.

The Location is amazing - right in the heart of the Old Town, Everywhere is very accessible on foot and all the streets are pedestrian. The Hotel was expensive per night ( in comparison to other hotels in a small city) but as it was a busy time of the year - mid June & its a tourist hot spot, It was to be expected. A very comfy and clean room especially considering the building itself is 100's of years old so always difficult to build in a protected structure.

Room was cozy and comfortable despite no air conditioning. Breakfast excellent. Staff friendly and professional. Location excellent in the old part of Freiburg and on the tram line (no. 1 line)
Nothing, this is a very good guesthouse.

central location, really buzzing but not noisy. The Black Forest can be seen from bedroom window, a stones throw away. Freiburg is a beautiful, vibrant city and a pleasure to stay in this hotel.
nothing really

Great location in Freiburg. Quaint hotel with a fabulous history.
Unable to have dinner in the restaurant at 21:00> We were impolitely and abruptly declined even though we explained we were residents. I guess the staff wanted to get home. I understand that!

Excellent location. Staff is competent and very attentive. Cleanliness of room.
It takes a bit long to get the right temperature for a shower. Would be nice to have the opportunity to make tea/coffee in the room. Rooms facing the street can be a bit noisy at nighttime when leaving the window open.

Fantastic location in the heart of the city. The staff had been great and took really care of us. The integrated restaurant is super convenient for having dinner. Would come back at any given time.
Lack of parking facility might be an issue when you arrive by car.

Location was central to the town, and provided easy walkability.
No air conditioning. It was warm and a surprise that it was without air. The desk helped us get a fan for our room, but it was a bit warm.

This hotel was great. It is in an historic building and very charming. It's very close to the Oberlinden tram stop in the altstadt. The breakfast was wonderful - 2 kinds scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, assorment of cold cuts including salmon, rolls and croissants (so flaky), yogurts, jams, veggies and fruits, juices, tea, coffee. Everyone enjoyed it.
The hotel is not air-conditioned, which is very standard in Europe. So that's not a complaint but rather a point of information. The street can be noisy well into the night, so a white noise machine might help.

Location was excellent. Breakfast was good.
No fridge or kettle in the room. Often the front of house was unattended so a kettle would have been great. Only one chair in the room and only a narrow desk.

Exceptional! Easy to find, spacious modern room, comfy bed and pillows, the friendliest staff and an exceptional breakfast.

Breakfast was great, room nice, with courtyard.
No tea or coffee making facility in room, no amenities (shampoo, shower cap, hand cream, etc). For the price, we expected a bit more.

WiFi was patchy

Location was ideal. We enjoyed staying in such a historically significant building - the oldest gaesthaus in Germany.
There was no internet on one whole side of the building. Rooms were adequate but had no historical charm commensurate with its status.

Location
Clean
-nothing in the room, no kettle, no tea, no coffee
-dont forget to book a room if you want to dine there, no table for guest, we had to eat biscuits in our room, without tea. Nothing was proposed, sad.
-suite was very noisy, people in the room upstairs were making loud footstep noise both late and early

Well, this is the oldest Inn/Guest House in all of Germany and you can literally feel the past and it’s history. The bar and restaurant area which also serves as reception is very beautiful and everything is tastefully decorated, and downstairs there is even a small museum. All the staff are kind, cheerful and very helpful. My room was quite small but cosy, and doors open onto an small outdoor patio area. The bed was very comfortable. Cable TV with mostly German programmes but they did have BBC World and CNN etc. My only disappointment was that there was no internet connection in my room and I really did need to use it for work.... however, I could use the internet downstairs in the restaurant/Bar area. Again, the staff were very helpful trying to get me connected in my room, but it was impossible.
No internet connection in my room so had to go downstairs to the restaurant to go online! This definitely needs to be addressed by the owners.

Proximity to centre. In old part of town. Lovely and quiet.
Lack of air conditioning, but this was to be expected in such an old building.

Bed was nice and firm. Hotel is very close to everything you would want to do in the centre of Freiburg.
Nice basement to show the history of the building (not pointed out by staff - we stumbled upon it on our way to the wc)
Lack of air con made our stay very uncomfortable. The fan provided was broken and didn’t rotate.
The pillows were so thin it was almost as if we didn’t have anything under our heads.
Staff were not overly friendly or helpful. The lift was broken on arrival so we were told to carry our cases up two flight of stairs with no help from staff.
Dated rooms with old bathroom.
Breakfast very much average (advertised as fabulous).
Overpriced for the quality but it seems as though that could be Freiburg hotels in general.

Boutique style hotel with good facilities and centrally located. Excellent breakfast and comfy room. There is parking available a short walk to the hotel.
If I was being harsh the towels could have been bigger !
