Taking in nature in a quiet mountain setting.

Great views, delicious food at the resturant, and very friendly service. Great proximity to the mountain, but not much to see on foot. There was a bus stop 1 block from hotel and it was a senic 30 min ride into town.

We had a great expierence, but for the price we we're expecting more.

Pascal was very friendly and accommodating. The view from the room and inn was incredible. It’s a short bus ride to Sion and 2 hours fromZermatt. The restaurant atmosphere and food was amazing. The Valais Canton is beautiful.

Old World Charm with Modern Conveniences!

At almost the top of a mountain covered with vineyards lies a lovely modern hotel created out of a historic family home and farm. The host is a kind & personable gentleman who provided a no-hassle introduction to the property and left us to explore and relax. The jacuzzi and sauna in the barn hayloft is a nice touch - one can relax while viewing the Alps! The room was beautiful and equipped with USB ports - the bed & linens super comfortable, robes are provided for hot tub/jacuzzi/sauna ventures, and the bathroom & shower are great. Every part of this home was thoughtfully renovated to incorporate & maintain unique historical aspects such as the stone stairs and wood paneling. A wonderful stay - when traveling in this region definitely consider this place!

My favourite hotel. Stunning. Feels like home.

Quite simply one of the best hotel rooms I have ever been in. Stunning view, jacuzzi, great bathroom, superb old-style authentic decor. This is the hotel room as event. It even had its own little private balcony.

If only the gentleman serving breakfast could stop pacing up and down (creaky floorboards) and needlessly opening odd draws out of boredom. Go away a read a book. Leave a little bell out in case we need him. It does ruin the tranquillity of breakfast.

Loved the ambiance, the view, the jacuzzi, the vibe, the dinner, the decor, the bed, the staff.

Having the loo essentially in the room isn’t great! It can be rather embarrassing. You’d better feel very comfortable with your partner - in the morning there aren’t any others! 😳

La Grande Maison?? Anything but grand... Don't lavish your time, sanity, nor money on this fiasco

Sadly the entirety of our stay was fundamentally stained by the abundantly appalling and abhorrent attitude of the property's/ restaurant staff and management/ pompous owner. Therefore we departed with nothing to 'like' attributed to our stay, just a deep routed repugnance for parting with 500 CHF during our one nights stay... What has all the one dimensional facets of a beautiful ‘Hotel’ upon face value is certainly everything but. Upon scratching the surface it’s a gilded failing in every aspect… We decided to opt for a room with a ‘spa bath’ and ‘balcony with mountain view’ a ‘perk’ we indeed paid a significant uplift for. Upon check in the owner advised that the balcony was in fact not accessible from our room and was instead only accessible by the communal corridor which of course significantly reduces the convenience/ useability. Upon using the spa bath the putrid smell from the jets was foul and needless to say we did not use this. The room was dirty. Parking was noted; however only six spaces for 12 rooms, two of them occupied by hotel vehicles - we had to park a ten minute walk away with our luggage up mountainous verges. The sauna in the barn was also not working. The pièce de resistance of our whole stay was our experience in the restaurant, which the hotel’s website describes as “run by a young and dynamic team” which quite frankly could not be more duplicitous. The two Italian waiters were insincere, grandiose and had no understanding of the menu nor the wine menu. Our evening involved them peacocking, openly demeaning dining guests in Italian behind the bar, having arguments within the dining space ‘catso, catso’ and one of the waiters trying to calm down another while he had a breakdown in the presence of dining guests. The most shocking of all was that we observed one of the waiters clearing a tables drinks and then downing the remainder of these behind the bar, left utterly speechless…

Our starter, a deep fried Tomme cheese was served frozen in the centre, our bottle of wine was advised as French, it was Suisse, then were the string of prolific excuses. We left prior to finishing our main course and can in all honesty say it was the worst experience we have ever been at the displeasure of having to endure. The following morning we sat down to breakfast ‘spread’ which in itself was insulting. I asked if I may have a quiet word with the owner he sharply told me “when he was ready’. When I shared our experience it was taken exceedingly personally, there was no openness nor investment to listen, understand and take on board our feedback, simply just “You don’t want to pay for the food, you don’t pay for the food". When, shortly after we came to make payment for our stay we were told by the owner that he had spoken to the restaurant staff in question and they had stated that we were ‘drunk’ during our during our meal and told that if the waiters had an argument in the restaurant it was nothing to do with us and did not involve us, nor would affect us - amongst a slew of other untruths. He advised that he would renegue on his word to remove the meal from our bill “because we ate it”. The owner is a pompous, sassy and arrogant individual with an over inflated ego who has no bearings on reality and no aspirations to grow or learn from customer experience! what a wonderful tool to build from after all... He stated that he believes people that leave bad reviews are bad people and that really just says it all. Upon departure he told my partner “good luck with her” with relation to myself which really speaks volumes about the type of person that runs this establishment. Needless to say if the owner paid more attention to the guests he hosts and their feedback, good, tentatively or bad as he does his ego I have no doubt our expectations would have been hugely surpassed. Embrace the notion that all feedback is good feedback.

Charming and cozy. Hosts Joe and Fabienne were great. Will definitely come back to this hotel.

The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. Our room was so charming and lovely. Our window over looked the valley and made the experience even more special. I can't say enough good things about La Grande Maison. Breakfast was very good. There was a great selection. I hope to stay at this hotel again.

Eclectic, original, the owner upgraded my room to a beautiful top floor room with a spectacular view and a jacuzzi bath. The restaurant food was most delicious and the menu was creative.
