A big disappointment for a 4 starts hotel from Dorint

The Location and the Pools.

Unfortunate many things. Overpriced for an outdated hotel, the restaurant is terrible, dinner and breakfast was poor, staff has to be much better trained, there is no politeness (except for the foreigners -!). My son took a bread in the breakfast that he didn’t manage to eat and was leaving the breakfast room with it, a staff member came screaming that we had to pay extra for the bread, unacceptable. By dinner some places in the buffet were not replaced and quality was very poor for a 30€+ buffet! Breakfast had almost none fresh fruits, water jar was dirty, and so many other details. Luckily the beach is beautiful and the pools are nice. Otherwise a big disappointment for a 4 starts hotel ! Plus pay attention, check in is at 16hrs and check out at 10AM, and they are not flexible.

Lovely and relaxing!

Great thermal pools, relaxed atmosphere, fresh bread delivery, enjoyable spa treatments, offered a free shuttle pick-up from the train station and had live music in the bar on Saturday

My bed was a bit too firm for me but this is a personal preference and I wish they had snacks for sale since room service is not offered - although they have a full restaurant onsite

Food poisoning and ruined vacation

The location of the Hotel is nice, spa is ok.

We ate dinner at the hotel the same evening of arrival and got food poisoning. We did not eat anything previously so we are sure it was from the hotel dinner (we ate fish). We decided to leave the hotel the next day and our holiday had to be made shorter than planned. The hotel staff was unapologetic and not very helpful. They charged us for the dinner (saying "but you had your dinner") and wanted to charge us for the breakfast the next morning, but we complained because we could obviously not eat. They took no responsibility for this incident and offered no compensation. Their argument was "You are the first guests to complain". We are definitely not coming back to this hotel!

Great place right next to the beach. But pretty far from restaurants and walking city center. Fantastic SPA with thermal water and helpful staff.

Restaurant does not work afternoon (closed between 11:30 and 17:30). So you have to walk 1-1,5 km to get a lunch. Cleaning cost is 45 Euro (not included).

Greedy management and rude staff.

We were having a relatively nice time but already underwhelmed by current state of the property when a really rude waiter made a scene because my wife was going to bring two little breads for our daughters to eat on the journey back. We barely ate anything in a 50+ eur buffet breakfast and they wanted to charge 3 eurs per bread just because it wasn't going to be eaten in the premises.

Not only the above, bit when we complained at the reception the lady said "well, this is Germany" as if it was something we should expect as foreigners. We've been living in Germany for 10 years and went to all kinds of hotels and never has this happened. Usually the opposite, staff offers to provide packaging if they understand is to keep the kids fed during the long journey back.

The apartment was nice and clean and the hotel was in a quiet location.

It was very hard to get an appointment for a massage and impossible to make an appointment for a facial and waxing. The hotel should have informed us at the time of booking that it would be necessary to book a treatment very early.

Location is perfect - on the side, peaceful and quiet. Thermal pool is great and available all day long.

The kitchen in the room is very small and not fully equipped, the fridge is very small (in the room for 4-6 people is the same as in the room for 2-3 people). For a couple or singles it's totally enough but if you are traveling with small kids and you need some more flexibility and budget options around the meals it can be difficult (just two small pots etc.).

Overall pleasant stay, with some small shortcomings.

The beachfront location is great, and the mixture of thermal spa and the beach made for a very relaxing stay. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and a free shuttle was provided for me to the train station. The breakfast is full of variety and very fresh, however the dinner buffet left a lot to be desired in terms of food quality. I would recommend the a la carte menu at their adjacent bar/restaurant because their food is quite tasty. Compliments to the chef. I enjoyed the Lachs filet with spinach and mashed potatoes on a couple of nights and definitely was satisfied with my entrees.

Lack of toiletries in the bathroom, such as soap, shampoo, lotion etc, which I expect from a four star hotel. Instead, I was provided with two soap dispensers, one by the sink and one in the shower, and they were not refilled during my stay. I requested a daily cleaning since it’s not automatic, and the cleaning ladies didn’t seem to clean throughly. My tea and coffee for my room were not replenished and my dirty drink glasses were left and never replaced either. Bed Sheets were not changed during the duration of my stay either and I was not provided with fresh bathrobes on a daily basis either.

Dorint a place for the retired

The salt bath was wonderful. The saunas great. We were offered a porter service to and from the train station. Breakfast great particularly the fruit press available.

The room was not cleaned on the second night. It's fine as it's not always necessary. It's a good way of getting the hotel ready for new guests but it should be reflected in the price. The lounge bar was very drab not a welcoming room.

Dorint is a great hotel experience overall that could've been made a bit better with some air con ;)

Dorint isn't our typical Binz hotel location, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of everything offered. The breakfast was big on variety and quality, the room was comfortable generally, with good facilities. The swimming pools were great, and the staff were kind and happy to help.

I was disappointed by the lack of air conditioning in the room, as I expect it would've been too warm in there if we had arrived in July or August. The screen door and window had no insect netting either, meaning that opening the door to let in some cool air resulted in mosquitos.

What you would expect of Dorint

Clearly upper class place in a resort town. Dorint is a chain and has a name, so you know pretty well what you will get. The thermal pools are nice, though they could be a bit hotter.

Parking a long way from room, quite pricey, the beach is close but cannot be reached directly from the back of the property.

Pleasant stay in Binz

Nice spacious apartment near the beach for families. We enjoyed the heated indoor pool. It was nice to be able to have a little kitchen.

Expensive. A bit dated. Couldn’t get sufficient hot water to clean dishes.
