The hotel is a nice old building with plenty of character in a quiet residential area - the oldest part of Victoria. But that does also mean there is no lift and room layouts vary. Our room on the third floor was clean, comfortable and everything worked. We had an en suite bath/shower and toilet, with the wash basin in the bedroom.
Tea and coffee is available in the lobby between 6.00am - 11am, but milk is not. The room had no tea/coffee making facilities but hot water was available upon request from reception. (There was a fridge in the room for your own milk but bring your own tea/coffee).
Good breakfast choices from the on-site café - not included in the room rate.
We wondered whether the on-site pub/bar might be noisy, but it wasn't.
The hotel is close to Beacon Hill Park and is a 20-30 minute to Fisherman's Wharf and the same to the downtown centre.
Always found a space in the car park.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, as were the staff in the café.
We enjoyed our stay, the JBI made an excellent Victoria base.
