We had a wonderful time, and would definitely come again (but might bring my own pillows next time!)

The staff were very lovely, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, as were the drinks, and the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the decor, and the extra information about the history of the hotel and our room!

The pillows were quite flat and uncomfortable, the bathroom fan didn't seem to work

A beautiful, quirky hotel with some great features. The food and staff were fantastic, would certainly stay again.

We weren't that impressed with Bridgewater itself. Alot of shops closed down.

Lovely, spacious and comfortable room, great breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful to make sure we had everything we needed.

A very disappointing stay — uncomfortable room and unpleasant experience with staff.

The mattress and pillows were very uncomfortable, and I ended up with a bad backache. I also felt that one member of staff behaved in a discriminatory way. When I asked for a latte at breakfast (which was included), I was told they didn’t serve it, even though I saw the same staff member make one for another guest the previous day. This was disappointing and made my stay unpleasant.

Perfect location, delicious food

The hotel is in a perfect location in Bridgwater with parking for our motorbikes at the back. We had rooms in a separate building at the back of the hotel. The staff were great and the Sunday roast was delicious!

Stayed over for one night on a motorcycle tour. Got a great last minute deal.

Fantastic old building right in the heart of Bridgwater, some of the architectural features were amazing. Secure off road parking for our motorcycles. Breakfast was very good, we went for the full English option. Our room was very pleasant with all the usual facilities.

Perfect place to stay to unwind and relax

It felt like a home from home, very warm feeling to the place, nicely furnished, clean and tidy, with great facilities. The staff were all very upbeat and it was obvious that it was a great place to work, well run and well managed. I would definitely make a special visit to stay again.

Everything was spot on. I am currently walking from Jon O Grotes to Lands end so this is the 38Th hotel I have stayed in over the last two months and my favourite so far.

Quirky night away

-The staff were all so super friendly and very welcoming - The rooms were spotless (a little noise from floor boards upstairs, but it is a C15 building so that is to be expected) - we had Sunday lunch in the evening which was delicious - The breakfast was wonderful, and so quaint with the tables laid out with vintage tea cups etc - The bar and restaurant were so lovely and quirky, with such a cosy feel to it all - booking in and out super speedy on line ( in person if you prefer) - parking - beautiful beer garden, with lovely gardens surrounding it - If your in this area or passing through, this hotel is perfect - the price for the night and breakfast included was superb

Charming

Firstly, this is a beautiful building. Quaint, cosy, full of character, and really well run. The staff are exceptional. My room was so comfortable and spotless. I booked dinner here also and it was by far the best vegan meal I have had in a long time. I went for the cauliflower steak. I look forward to staying here again in the future.

The Old Vecarage Hotel is a beautiful property. The hosts were very welcoming, even giving our little dog a lovely welcome. Really lovely to stay somewhere that is so dog friendly.

Quiet, stylish location with plenty of character

The bedroom was comfortable. The pub, dining and breakfast areas were absolutely full of character. The evening meal I had was delicious - homemade lasagne. We were served by a very professional and helpful chap (slim with circular glasses, did not catch his name unfortunately). The breakfast was very tasty, with lots of choice available, good quality ingredients and an imaginative chef/menu - a friendly lady called Judit. I was served my breakfast by Dan who was helpful and friendly.

lovely stay but really struggled with the steep stays

l liked the way they treated us with a dog, even gave us a sausage, all cut up for our dog. the room was big enough, and breakfast was lovely, something for everyone. the hotel was located just off the centre so a very short walk to all the shops The food was fantastic thats all l can say

l asked Booking.com l needed a ground-floor room and got an email say that was ok so booked it but it was not relayed to the hotel so I had a room on the top floor they were fully booked . if l had known this l would no have booked this

A beautiful retreat to stay for a short break and forget your troubles

Beautiful, every area and room is different. Very welcoming and homely feel . The garden is a haven where I found I could relax and forget about everything for a few days. The flowers in the garden are beautiful, I absolutely love dahlias but I have never grown any as big as these beauties! I loved the decor more than anything, such a gorgeous place full of character and history

It’s a lovely old property with lots of characters opposite a beautiful church, great easy car parking and perfect for a stopover travelling North or South. Food was excellent and great value and the courtyard and garden a perfect place to enjoy a drink at the end of the day.

Pleasant stay in a very comfortable hotel.

The room was extremely comfortable and a very good size. The place was very clean and well looked after and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I had a meal in the restaurant, which was very nice. It is not an extensive menu but it is more than adequate and my meal was of very good quality.

Parking was a little tricky but I was fortunate enough to get a spot on the street. The on-street parking is free between 6.0 pm and 8.0 am, so if you are lucky this works. The hotel cannot help the parking facilities of course, so, as in most instances, you have to sort yourself out.

A Secret Gem.

The Old Vicarage was a brilliant place to stay. Very quirky, with exception touches to everything. Even the garden was lovely, with beautiful flowers. The owner, Candida and her staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with everything you may need, including iron and ironing board. I couldn't fault it.

Overall, I had a positive experience and would happily stay there again.

As a solo female traveller, I felt safe here. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. I liked the room and was pleased there was a fan in there, as my stay coincided with the heatwave. The gardens were lovely, and it was nice to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine.

I liked the menu, but I don't eat red meat. I would have liked more options for main courses featuring chicken, fish, and salad.
