Everyone very friendly, rooms good size, clean and comfortable. Easy check in, check out and paying bills in line.

I won’t be coming back again, even though after my first stay I was really looking forward to returning

Location

In the past, I stayed in a double room that was very cozy, with both a bathtub and a separate shower. The mattress was firm but very comfortable. Now that I’ve come back and booked the same type of double room, everything was completely different: – No bathtub, and the shower was impossible to use without getting your hair wet since it only had one fixed showerhead. – The bed wasn’t actually a double; it was two small beds pushed together, with extremely uncomfortable mattresses—higher at the feet than at the head, and they felt like they were bending in the middle. – There was also a lot of noise in the hallway between the rooms. When I arrived, I had to wait for the receptionist for almost half an hour, and when I asked to upgrade to a better room, I was told a price almost double the one listed on booking.com.

Lovely room, clean and well equipped

The room was very noisy sounds from the bar below all evening which was acceptable but the music was turned on again at 7am which was unacceptable

The dinner at the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent.

The room was nice.

The entire hotel was under reservation. Scaffolds everywhere, no restaurant, door was locked when I arrived. Had to call a nr that was listed on the door to get in. I paid for a 4 star hotel, but got only one star.

I definitely do not like being presented with a restaurant bill with a 10% gratuity added. Also a loud dog barking at 0730 hrs within the building , is not my idea of serenity. Just saying !

Excellent breakfast. We left early on the last morning and a takeaway breakfast (water/fruit/pastry) was given to us the night before. A nice touch.

I believe there is an imminent upgrade/refurbishment planned. This will add to the present charm of the establishment.

Fantastic value for money in a modern, clean, cool pub with amazing rooms & fantastic food

arrived lateish at 19:45 - very friendly, check in was fast, straight up to the room, which was huge, with a very modern immaculate bathroom, sofa, and a bath in the room..!! Anyway wanted something to eat so went straight back down and had an excellent pint of local pale ale, with the best fish and chips I have had in a very long while. Breakfast was just as good, really lovely sourdough toast and a fab selection - super-friendly staff and amazing value for money..!!

Room description was inaccurate. For the room type we booked (superior double). It should have had a roll top bath and super-king bed. It didn’t have either. Advised that only one of the rooms of that type had those features. This should be made clear on the website.

With a dog, there wasn’t much of an area suitable for dog walking that were in the pub grounds. Walking down a narrow lane gave access to a field with a public footpath footpath suitable for dog walking early morning.

Wonderful country pub awaiting promised TLC

Location.. good food, beer and cider… with comfortable accommodation, sunny garden and free parking on site.

Sadly it is well overdue a refurb. We have stayed twice before a number of years ago and found it wonderful, hence this return visit. Brewery restraints have meant ongoing maintenance is severely lacking, but we were assured there is a planned closure for total refurb in October

|Excellent stay at the Bower Inn

i was immediately made to feel welcome when i arrived at the Bower Inn. All the staff were helpful and friendly, the selection of ales and wines was excellent, as was the food. The room was very comfortable, equipped with everything you need, breakfast was superb. The building itself is a classically traditional pub but very spacious and well maintained. If i visit the area again, I would have the Bower Inn as my first choice.

Pleasant stay in old country inn

Great breakfast with a wide variety of delicious choices. Very friendly staff too. Good water pressure for the shower. Lots of parking and a separate entrance to the rooms, avoiding the need to having to go through the bar area.

The room was a good size with a nice outlook over a field of cows. The room could do with redecorating and the chrome button to turn on the shower was missing, so the metal button underneath had to be pressed. The shower head was the monsoon type- no handheld shower head option. No small bar fridge, but a small bottle provided for taking to the bar where it was filled with milk for a tea or coffee.

Needed more staff serving at the start of breakfast service & the price of a large rose wine at £10 a glass seemed high!

The staff were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

The awful bed. It was of inferior quality and bounced when my husband turned over. The mattress didn't fit the bed. The extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working so the bathroom was all sweaty. Signage to show directions was makeshift but arguably the area had a lot of building works going on so not entirely their fault.

Cheerful and helpful staff. Room on ground floor. Easy parking. Very good value. Fresh milk in little flask. Convenient location for M5. Butcombe beer.

Loud, unpleasant background music spoiled our experience of dinner and felt very down market, in contrast with attractive building and pretty garden.
